BlockBeats news, August 26, Cointelegraph reported that after Nigerian Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan was detained for six months for suspected financial crimes totaling $34 million, his family expressed concern about his deteriorating health.
Nigerian authorities imprisoned Gambaryan for suspected involvement in money laundering, currency speculation and tax evasion while working at Binance.
According to information provided by Gambaryan's family, his health continued to deteriorate due to long-term medical neglect. Their statement said: "He was unable to walk due to herniated discs and spinal injuries, the pain was unbearable, and the prison refused to provide him with a wheelchair."
Because he could not move, Gambaryan had to take blood thinners to avoid blood clots. The family further accused the Nigerian authorities of not allowing his legal team to visit him within 20 days from July 26 to August 14. The family claims that the restrictions "violate the Nigerian constitution and the laws governing the prison where he is being held."
