BBlockBeats reported that on June 19, Cointelegraph reported that an anonymous person claiming to be a "security researcher" discovered a serious security vulnerability on the Kraken platform and alerted Kraken on June 9.
However, Kraken Chief Security Officer Nick Percoco said that two accounts associated with the security researcher had used the vulnerability to extract more than $3 million worth of digital assets, but no user funds were threatened. The team requested a call with the business development team (ie, sales representatives) and did not agree to return any funds.
Kraken believes that this behavior is no longer a white hat hacker, but extortion.
