US SEC launches legal campaign to classify Ethereum as a security

BlockBeats news, on March 21, Fortune reported that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is launching an aggressive legal action to classify Ethereum as a security. This follows the SEC’s approval of a series of Bitcoin ETFs in January. The news could further dampen the crypto industry’s hopes that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will approve BlackRock and other companies’ Ethereum ETF applications. The SEC’s Ethereum investigation involves asking companies to provide any documents and financial records related to transactions with the Ethereum Foundation, the nonprofit organization that oversees the governance and development of the eponymous blockchain.
