The US FINRA has released its 2024 regulatory report, which includes a section on cryptocurrency assets for the first time.
BlockBeats reported on January 10 that the US Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) has released its 2024 annual regulatory report, which includes a section specifically discussing cryptocurrency assets for the first time. The report states that FINRA's Member Application Program (MAP) follows the guidance of the SEC to evaluate a company's proposed cryptocurrency securities business line based on applicable rules, such as the SEC's financial responsibility rules and customer protection rules. Companies will be approved as private (non-public) placement agencies, operating alternative trading systems for cryptocurrency securities, and providing custody services. FINRA also requires its members to notify the organization when engaging in non-securities cryptocurrency activities, as well as when relevant personnel engage in external cryptocurrency-related commercial activities, private securities transactions, and cryptocurrency mining businesses. FINRA is a self-regulatory organization in the US responsible for overseeing securities broker-dealers and is regulated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
