Arweave founder: Irys plans to fork Arweave and reset token supply.
According to a post by Sam Williams, the founder of Arweave, on social media on December 18th, reliable sources have revealed that Irys, a Web3 storage solution in the Arweave ecosystem (previously known as Bundlr Network), is considering forking Arweave in an unsafe and antisocial manner. Despite the existence of frameworks for developing Arweave, Irys plans to not maintain the dataset and restart the supply of tokens. When asked about the reason, Irys said they do not want to support existing data and provide tokens to Arweave.
Sam Williams believes that Irys is too greedy and short-sighted, and hopes that Irys can build the fork in the right way. If it helps the ecosystem, Arweave is always willing to talk to them and provide support. If Irys users need migration assistance, another Arweave ecosystem storage project, ar.io, can provide immediate support.
It is reported that Bundlr has processed about 95% of Arweave transactions and has been known as the scaling solution for Arweave. When it was renamed in October this year, it claimed to have completed more than one billion transactions.
