Web3 Foundation CEO: Polkadot is about to abandon parallel chain slot auctions, and the new mechanism allows developers to rent block space.
According to BlockBeats news on November 19, as reported by The Defiant, Fabian Gompf, the newly appointed CEO of Web3 Foundation, the development organization for Polkadot, stated in an interview that Polkadot is about to undergo a major transformation. Polkadot will abandon the slot auction for parallel chains and instead adopt a new mechanism that allows application developers to rent block space as needed. Polkadot's parallel chain system "will undergo fundamental changes at the end of this year and the beginning of next year."
Previously, Joe Petrowski, a research analyst at Parity, stated in the Polkadot governance forum that Agile Coretime (Polkadot 2.0) is expected to launch on the Rococo testnet by the end of this year, on the Kusama canary network in the first quarter of next year, and on the Polkadot mainnet in the second quarter of next year.
