Disney collaborates with Dapper Labs to launch an NFT application, which will host IPs from Lucasfilm, Pixar, and other entities.
BlockBeats reported on November 14th that Disney is once again trying NFTs, this time through a partnership with Dapper Labs, a blockchain company based in Vancouver and the parent company of the Flow blockchain. Dapper Labs has experience building successful consumer-facing Web3 applications, including NBA Top Shot.
On Tuesday, Disney launched Disney Pinnacle, a mobile app that was made available to invited users at 9:00 am in a closed beta format. Dapper's senior product manager Rachel Rogers said in an email that it will be officially released on the Apple App Store "shortly" and then on web browsers and the Google Play Store.
Users will be able to trade digital "badges" on Disney Pinnacle, which are based on popular physical collectible categories and feature Disney-related intellectual property. The platform will host intellectual property from Lucasfilm, Pixar, and Walt Disney Animation Studios, meaning tradable assets could include characters such as Yoda from Star Wars, Woody from Toy Story, and Snow White.
