Bankless co-founder: Bitcoin could be surpassed due to the lack of programmable block space functionality.
BlockBeats news on November 2nd, Ryan Sean Adams, co-founder of Bankless, posted on social media that cryptocurrency is a social technology, not a conventional one. While Bitcoin has been important, it lacks the functionality of programmable block space and will be surpassed, just as calculators were replaced by PCs. Programmable blockchains are important because they allow users to transact, lend, and mint on the chain, in addition to executing on-chain send/receive operations.
Furthermore, Ryan stated that a small subset of cryptocurrencies will attain a special "currency" status, and that it will take decades for these currencies to gain a premium, with only the most decentralized chains able to achieve this status. Currently, BTC and ETH have a significant lead in this regard.
