SBF may testify regarding whether lawyers were involved in FTX's partial operations.
According to a BlockBeats report on October 26th, FTX founder SBF's defense team hopes to have him testify regarding his knowledge of the involvement of lawyers in certain aspects of FTX operations, his understanding of industry practices, his intentions with FTX funds in the event of a collapse, and his level of understanding of the financial situation of FTX and Alameda. In Wednesday's defense filing, the defense lawyers requested that Judge Lewis Kaplan, who is responsible for this case, allow them to question SBF about certain aspects of FTX operations and how the company's lawyers were involved in making these decisions. These questions include FTX's automatic deletion policy for Signal and Slack messages, the opening of North Dimension and its bank accounts, loans provided by FTX and Alameda Research to their executives, and other issues. The filing mentioned that the US Department of Justice (DOJ) is trying to argue that some or all of these questions are evidence of criminal intent. The defense is trying to argue that SBF did not intend to deceive clients or investors, and that some of his efforts in running the company relied on the advice of lawyers.
