Securities giant Euroclear settles the first blockchain bond issued by the World Bank.
According to BlockBeats news on October 24th, Euroclear, a securities settlement giant, settled its first digital note on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. This is a note issued by the World Bank on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, raising 100 million euros (106 million US dollars) for sustainable development activities.
Citibank's issuer services department served as the issuing and paying agent, TD Securities served as the dealer, and Euroclear Bank served as the central securities depository of the issuer.
Euroclear stated that this issuance marks the launch of its digital securities issuance service, which allows customers to issue, distribute, and settle fully digital international securities on distributed ledger technology (DLT) or blockchain technology. Euroclear's digital platform is connected to its main settlement system, processing trillions of euros in securities from around the world, fully complying with EU settlement system rules.
