The United States is conducting security reviews of Bitcoin mining companies with connections to China, believing that the involved mining farms could pose a threat to national security.

According to a report by The Times on October 19th, at least 12 states in the United States have discovered Bitcoin mining farms owned or operated by Chinese companies, with a total energy consumption equivalent to that of 1.5 million households. Many of these farms are equipped with mining machines manufactured by Bitmain. Records show that since China banned Bitcoin mining in May 2021 due to concerns over energy consumption and economic instability, the number of devices shipped by Bitmain to the United States is 15 times the total of the past five years. The company's recent report claims that it now controls 90% of the global Bitcoin mining equipment market. Although there is no clear evidence of a direct connection, the US side still suspects that these mining farms operating in the US are related to the Chinese government. In a report submitted to the US Foreign Investment Committee by Microsoft's team in August 2022, it was written that "full-scale intelligence collection operations" can be conducted at the Bitcoin mining farm near the company's data center in Wyoming, even if there is no direct evidence of malicious activity. According to geographical information, the mining farm referred to by Microsoft is not only adjacent to the company's data center that supports the Pentagon, but is also only about one mile away from an air force base that controls intercontinental ballistic missiles. A lawsuit involving a controversial contract shows that Chinese mining equipment manufacturer Bitmain is a participant in the mining farm near the air force base. According to an anonymous US official who spoke to The New York Times, they have been tracking the actions of relevant mining farms in Wyoming for several months.

Bitmain has been embroiled in mining rig security controversies for years, but that has not stopped it from engaging in business partnerships with key members of the US presidential family.
"Bitcoin is not a threat to the US dollar. What is really threatening the US dollar is the current actions of the Biden administration."
