Developer: BitVM aims to expand Bitcoin, not to emulate Ethereum.
According to BlockBeats news on October 13th, Super Testnet, a Bitcoin developer, stated that BitVM aims to expand Bitcoin rather than launch decentralized financial applications like Ethereum on the network. The whitepaper for BitVM was released on October 10th by Robin Linus, the project leader of ZeroSync, and was supported by anonymous developer Super Testnet. The first proof-of-concept implementation of BitVM is committed to expanding the functionality of BitVM. Some industry experts believe that BitVM will bring DeFi to Bitcoin, just like Ethereum's virtual machine (EVM) did for Ethereum.
Super Testnet believes that building a decentralized trading platform on Bitcoin would be a "step back". BitVM focuses on scalability rather than implementing smart contracts and issuing a large number of altcoins. The real killer application is to expand Bitcoin. Additionally, BitVM can fix a flaw in the Lightning Network.
