CZ: Binance Wallet and Trust Wallet are not affected by vulnerabilities related to Libbitcoin Explorer 3.x.
BlockBeats reported on August 11th that CZ expressed support for self-custody wallets on social media, but emphasized the importance of understanding how to operate them. The vulnerability in the cryptocurrency wallet of Libbitcoin Explorer 3.x version is due to the random number generator of the 32-bit mnemonic phrase, which is not random enough in the face of modern cracking technology such as GPU. Trustwallet and Binance Wallet do not use this method in mnemonic phrase generation.
According to SlowMist Zone, Distrust discovered a serious vulnerability affecting cryptocurrency wallets using the Libbitcoin Explorer 3.x version. The vulnerability allows attackers to access the wallet's private key by cracking the Mersenne Twister pseudo-random number generator (PRNG). Cryptocurrencies known to be affected include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Dogecoin, Solana, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Zcash. SlowMist advises all users of the Libbitcoin Explorer 3.x version to immediately stop using the affected wallet and transfer funds to a secure wallet.
