The US SEC will respond to Coinbase's initial legal defense on July 13th.
According to BlockBeats news on June 30th, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will respond to Coinbase's first legal defense on July 13th based on a court order, as reported by CoinDesk. The hearing date is much earlier than previously expected, due to Coinbase's "creative" defense strategy.
Judge Katherine Polk Failla will decide during the July 13th court appearance whether to allow Coinbase to proceed with its motion to dismiss, which was filed yesterday.
It is reported that Coinbase submitted its initial response 40 days before the deadline (August 7th). Therefore, the court changed the pretrial conference to a motion hearing and moved the date up from August 24th to July 13th. A pretrial motion hearing is an application made by a prosecutor or defense lawyer requesting the court to make a decision on a particular issue before the trial.
As previously reported by BlockBeats, Coinbase claimed in its first legal response to regulatory litigation that the digital assets listed on its platform do not fall under the jurisdiction of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
