Solana experienced a mainnet outage on February 25th due to congestion in the block propagation protocol, "Turbine".
BlockBeats News, on April 19th, Solana announced that the main reason for the downgrade of the Solana mainnet beta cluster on February 25th at approximately 13:46:16 Beijing time was due to congestion in the block propagation protocol "Turbine". Abnormal network traffic caused Turbine capacity saturation, forcing most block data to be transmitted through a slow backup block repair protocol. Core engineers have determined that this issue was caused by a logic fault in the duplicate data deletion logic in the fragment forwarding service.
Previously reported, on February 25th, according to CoinDesk, a forking event affecting TPS occurred on the Solana network. After the first attempt failed, the problem evolved from slow transaction processing to almost complete activity interruption on Solana.
