Fandom Gaming Report: Only 7% of consumers believe NFTS are an important part of the gaming landscape, and 67% have only a basic or no knowledge of NFTS
According to the State of the Gaming Industry 2022 report released by fan platform Fandom on September 23, the gamer community has a "one-sided" negative view of NFTS, with the vast majority believing that NFTS do not have any need to exist. Only 7% of consumers think NFTS are an important part of the gaming landscape, and 72% have a very negative view of NFTS. 67% of consumers have only basic or no knowledge of NFTS, and only 9% of gamers have NFTS. In addition, only 13% of gamers say NFTS and other blockchain technologies will significantly drive innovation in the gaming space, and 88% of gamers believe that "spending money" to win is bad for players.
In terms of the metaverse, 76% of fans said they had played a game in the metaverse, and 48% of those fans had played more time in the metaverse than ever before. The majority of consumers (72%) are willing to use the metaverse for non-gaming experiences and activities, including socializing, watching TV and movies, going to concerts, shopping, celebrity meet-and-greets, or sporting events. In the metaverse, however, brands are still lagging behind in consumer interest. Gamers expect creator-led content in the metaverse more than content delivered by advertisers. Krypton (36)
