Gavin Wood says Kusama has fewer nodes than expected. There are now 150 verification nodes, most of which are volunteers away from the community.

The number of validation nodes will change from 150 to a more reasonable number, as not all validation nodes will be upgraded on time. The final update to cc-2, v0.6.18, was released this afternoon. All nodes, especially the proof-nodes, are encouraged to upgrade to help test the new logic. Later tonight (27 November), Polkadot will prepare the release of the new version v0.7.0 and a third candidate chain, Kusama cc-3, which will be terminated. Most of the status and transaction records of cc-2 are migrated to cc-3.

Gavin Wood also revealed plans to transition from PoA to the NPoS network on Thursday. Kusama cc-3 will be a completely decentralized block chain platform from the very beginning, and the transfer function will be opened after the community vote.
