Original Source: DeepTech TechFlow

It is unknown whether the founder of Starknet was inspired by the famous quote from Oscar Wilde, but this "star" on Layer2 is set to shine brightly in the first quarter of 2024.

On December 1, 2023, the Starknet Foundation announced that it had conducted an airdrop snapshot and will distribute STRK tokens to certain past active users and contributors in the first quarter of 2024, while unlocking previously distributed tokens.

Therefore, many investors began to lay out the Starknet ecosystem in advance, hoping to find gems on the stars. Some people laid out rabbits (RBX), some were optimistic about Lords, and more people were looking forward to opening their wallets and welcoming airdrops.

What are the potential investment opportunities in the StarkNet ecosystem now?

StarkNet 有何不同?

StarkNet What Makes It Different?

In the Layer2 world, StarkNet is one of the four major players alongside Arbitrum, Optimism, and zkSync.

Compared to Arbitrum and Optimism, StarkNet uses zk-Rollup, which allows for transaction packaging without the need to know who the verifier is. Additionally, there is no need for a seven-day waiting period when transferring assets across chains.

StarkNet simultaneously considers privacy and scalability, especially in protecting the privacy and data security of user transaction information, which is lacking in most Layer 2 scaling solutions today.

Compared to zkSync in the same camp, zkSync uses zk-SNARKs as its zero-knowledge proof system, which has smaller proof sizes and lower gas costs; while Starknet uses zk-STARKs, which provides higher transparency and security.

In addition, zkSync is compatible with EVM and uses Solidity as its programming language, making it easier for developers to enter its ecosystem. On the other hand, Starknet uses its own developed programming language, Cairo, and does not support EVM. However, there are some projects developing zkEVM based on StarkNet, such as Warp and Kakarot. Developers can deploy to the StarkNet network more quickly through the Kakarot tool.

StarkNet has account abstraction functionality, which eliminates the need for users to deal with complex mnemonic phrases and private keys, resulting in a better user experience.

In short, StarkNet has its own programming language, Cairo, which lacks compatibility with EVM. The high entry barrier for developers, but its high throughput and low transaction costs make it shine in certain fields.

For example:

In the field of full-chain gaming, high throughput and low transaction costs make it an ideal choice for full-chain gaming, which is also one of the core narratives of StarkNet.

In the field of contract wallets, the native account abstraction of StarkNet enables contract wallets to achieve functionality similar to hardware wallets.

In the on-chain AI field, StarkNet's technical features allow off-chain execution of computations and verification of generated proofs on-chain.

Derivative trading, as early as dYdX, also chose StarkWare as a partner.

Starknet protocols worth paying attention to?

Starknet ecosystem covers multiple tracks such as DeFi, NFT, GameFi, cross-chain bridges, contract wallets, etc. There are over 170 projects under construction in the ecosystem.

Among them, most of the ecosystems are in the early stage, in simple terms, most of the protocol applications have not issued tokens, RabbitX and Lords are among the few projects that have already issued assets.

RabbitX

RabbitX is an unlicensed perpetual exchange built on Starknet. With RabbitX, you can trade using an order book and RabbitX offers up to 20x leverage.

Due to RabbitX being built using low-latency ZK-STARK technology, it is able to provide users with extremely fast confirmation speeds and zero Gas, as well as fully inheriting the security of ETH L1.

According to the latest data from DeFi Lama, RabbitX is currently the second largest on-chain derivatives trading platform, second only to dYdX.

Clearing Mechanism

RabbitX provides a good solution for clearing in the encryption industry. RabbitX's margin requirements are: liquidation margin - 2%, maintenance margin - 3%. Based on this, RabbitX has established a three-step waterfall structure to assist in clearing processing:

·Waterfall 1: When the equity of an account is below the maintenance margin requirement (3%), it will undergo partial liquidation until the account is restored above the maintenance margin requirement. During the liquidation period, users will not be able to place new orders, cancel orders, or withdraw funds.

·Waterfall 2: If the equity of an account is below the liquidation margin (2%), the account will be liquidated at zero price (position with equity set to zero).
