Jito officially announces the airdrop rules. How will the distribution of 100 million JTO tokens be carried out?

Read this article in 9 Minutes
The airdrop quota checking website is now online.
On November 28th, Jito, a liquidity staking protocol on Solana, announced the launch of its governance token, JTO. The protocol will airdrop 100 million JTO tokens to the community, which represents 10% of the total supply. Although Jito specified that the airdrop would target JitoSOL users, Jito Solana validators, and Jito MEV searchers, the protocol did not disclose the distribution rules for the 100 million JTO tokens among these three groups, and eligible addresses were unable to check how much airdrop they would receive at the time of the announcement.

On the early morning of December 5th, Jito officially supplemented this key information and launched the airdrop quota checking website at https://www.jito.network/airdrop/.

Note: Jito official reminder, users can currently only view the airdrop quota, and the application has not yet been launched. Once the application is open, the Jito Foundation will announce the information through official channels. Please do not click on any links from unofficial sources.

Token Contract & Distribution Plan

According to the information released by Jito this morning, the JTO token has now been minted on the chain, but it has not yet officially circulated except for some small-scale test transfers. The token contract address is jtojtomepa8beP8AuQc6eXt5FriJwfFMwQx2v2f9mCL.

From the published distribution plan, JitoSOL users will receive 80% of the airdrop allocation (80 million JTO tokens), Jito Solana validators will receive 15% (15 million JTO tokens), and Jito MEV searchers will receive an additional 5% (5 million JTO tokens).

It is worth mentioning that Jito emphasizes that all past and current core contributors will not be included in the JTO airdrop range, including all core contributor addresses that meet the above conditions.

JitoSOL User Airdrop Rules

JitoSOL users' eligibility for airdrops is determined by their ranking in the Jito points program. Only JitoSOL users with points equal to or exceeding 100 are eligible for airdrops.

In order to ensure fair distribution, the Jito Foundation has adopted a tiered distribution system for different point levels. This measure is designed to ensure that users with fewer points can receive more rewards compared to proportional distribution, thereby encouraging more people to participate in Jito's ecological governance.

The airdrop snapshot will start on January 1, 2023 and end on November 25, 2023. During this period, a total of 9852 addresses that meet the conditions were identified. After conducting an anti-witch screening and removing the addresses of core contributors, ten levels of distribution standards were finally determined, as shown in the following figure.

Jito Solana Validator Airdrop Rules

Jito-Solana validators have played a key role in expanding the network effect of the Jito-Solana client, which currently holds 41% of the total network staking weight.

A total of 15 million JTO will be distributed to Jito-Solana validators according to the following rules:

Operated Jito-Solana client between the 366th and 536th epochs;

Operated the Jito-Solana client continuously for at least one epoch during the period from epoch 527 to epoch 536.

The allocation of JTO will be based on the proportion of each validator's stake in the total stake of Jito-Solana, and the time dimension will be weighted for each epoch since the 366th epoch. Ultimately, Jito-Solana validators will have four levels of allocation criteria, as shown in the following figure.

Please note that only 50% of the JTO tokens airdropped to Jito-Solana validators can be claimed at token genesis, while the remaining 50% will be linearly unlocked over a period of 12 months.

Jito MEV Searcher

The final batch of eligible recipients for the JTO airdrop are searchers who have previously used the Jito MEV search suite. The total amount of tokens for this portion of the airdrop is 5 million JTO tokens.

To qualify for the airdrop, Jito MEV searchers must have accumulated at least 1 SOL between the 366th epoch and the 536th epoch.

Similar to the allocation method for Jito-Solana validators, Jito MEV searchers who meet the airdrop criteria will be divided into five different levels, with more active searchers receiving larger allocation quotas. The specific allocation situation is shown in the following figure.

In addition, the JTO airdropped to Jito MEV searchers can only be claimed by 50% at the token's genesis, while the remaining 50% will be linearly unlocked over a period of 12 months.

Risk Warning

Jito officials stated that the JTO airdrop will have a validity period of 18 months for claiming. Tokens that remain unclaimed after this period will be transferred to the Realms wallet in the DAO treasury.

At the end of today's announcement, Jito officially issued a risk warning, hoping that community members will be vigilant against potential fraud. After the airdrop is open, all users are advised to pay attention to whether the visited website has the domain name jito.network and verify that the token contract is correct before interacting.

Jito will not proactively send messages to users or request personal information from users. BlockBeats reminds all users to remain vigilant.
