When browsing blockchain information, we often see which financing parties a certain project has taken. But for these investment institutions that are far away from ordinary users, you may not be clear about their layout, and it is impossible to tell whether they will benefit the project or help our investment decisions. Just getting familiar with a few of the more common names like Consensys, a16z crypto, Three Arrows Capital, FTX Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, Binance Ventures, and more. Today, Zhaomao takes everyone to take stock of Multicoin Capital, an encryption-native fund established since May 2017, and focuses on introducing Aptos, a new public chain project admired by its partner Kyle Samani.

Layout overview

Multicoin Capital investment covers all aspects of the blockchain Racetrack, which invests in technical efforts that push the boundaries of computer science and technology, infrastructure that supports trust-minimized computing on a global scale, and consumer and enterprise applications that require trust-minimized properties. Classified by category, it includes infrastructure level, L1, L2, enterprise orientation, privacy, identity, mobile terminal, etc. There are many investment projects. This article only lists a few well-known projects in the industry, and the rest of the projects can be checked from its pipeline network.

Coin98 is an all-in-one DeFi platform that powers a suite of products including Coin98 Wallet, Coin98 Exchange and Space Gate (across Chain Bridge). Coin98 aims to fill an untapped need in the industry to be the gateway of choice for connecting TradFi users to any DeFi service or blockchain.

Near is the creator of the NEAR protocol. Designed and developed by a team of experienced and competitive programmers, the NEAR Protocol achieves global scale by using a novel approach to sharding and a consensus mechanism called Nightshade. NEAR provides predictable costs for applications and superior tooling for developers at the protocol level.

Torus helps users log into DApps with their OAuth accounts, such as with Google and Facebook Connect. Torus uses Distributed Key Generation (DKG), a new approach to key management that works across all browsers and devices, and includes seamless account recovery without introducing any new trust assumptions.

Keep is an off-chain container for private data. Keeps helps contracts harness the full power of public blockchains to interact deeply with private data. Keeps builds a bridge between the public blockchain world and private data. It brings a new wave of fundamental innovation for blockchain developers.

In addition to the above projects, it also includes Alpha Finance Lab, an ecosystem of cross-chain DeFi products, blockchain protocol Arweave, digital streaming service Audius, etc. The projects that have not been announced in the investment list on its official website will not be listed here. The following will focus on its layer-1 blockchain project, Aptos, which focuses on security, scalability, and upgradeability.

Aptos

Currently Aptos has completed the 2 led by a16z $100 million "strategic" investment, with participants including Multicoin Capital, Tiger Global, Katie Haun, 3 Arrows Capital, FTX Ventures, and Coinbase Ventures.

Origin

Worked as the main builder in Meta's Libra/Diem and Calibra/Novi The former Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching did not give up their original work after the Diem project was blocked, but chose to leave Meta, and gathered Diem and Novi core developers to form the Aptos team. Therefore, although the project is a new project, it has a mature team and existing technology. In order to ensure the independence of the project and other issues, the team did not obtain financing from the former owner Meta, even the leaders of Meta. According to its official statement: "Since leaving Meta (formerly Facebook), we have been able to bring our ideas to life, strip away bureaucratic red tape, and build a whole new network from the ground up to bring them to life. We are now Get ready to spread the word about these ideas more broadly and start delivering the infrastructure we've been perfecting.

Aptos will build in part on what we've developed publicly over the past three years technology. Aptos uses Move, a secure and reliable language originally developed for Diem. The ideas we conceived at the time are still applicable and will serve as an important foundation for a secure, scalable, upgradeable Web3. Our decentralized and The permissioned access program is progressing rapidly and will be in the open."

Vision

Current There are many smart contract platforms deployed in production - each with its own unique strengths and tradeoffs. Aptos believes that a rapidly innovative and adaptable blockchain is needed to meet the needs of billions of people today and in the future. The belief is that the user experience needs to improve significantly in terms of security and scalability in order to reach the masses (especially non-crypto-native users). So over the past three years, the team set out to research and develop innovative ideas and deploy them safely into a production environment.

Technical Features

1. Using a safe and flexible blockchain language - MOVE language:

The Move language is designed for secure resource management and verifiable execution on the blockchain. Transaction execution is deterministic, closed and metered. Determinism and closure mean that the output of a transaction execution is completely predictable and based only on the information contained in the transaction and the current ledger state. Metering is an important defense against denial of service attacks at the transaction execution level. Move Prover can formally verify properties of Move modules via an expressive specification language, and is fast enough to run as part of continuous integration testing. Moving resources, inspired by linear types, statically ensures that resources are preserved and cannot be copied or accidentally destroyed - completely avoiding a whole class of potential attacks.

2. Has a production-level, high-guarantee BFT consensus protocol:

The team at Aptos developed a production-grade, low-latency Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) engine. Over the past three years, the team has implemented the fourth iteration of the protocol and upgraded the consensus protocol in a private mainnet environment with diverse operators and zero downtime. The first implementation to the BFT protocol added an active pacer that uses a timeout to synchronize validators much faster than waiting for an increased timeout. With recent improvements to the protocol, blocks can be submitted in as few as two network round trips, making sub-second finality a common occurrence. Aptos' novel reputation system analyzes on-chain state and automatically updates leader rotation to adjust for unresponsive validators without any human intervention, making it ideal for decentralized environments. Furthermore, the protocol clearly separates liveness from safety. Regardless of whether the network is unreachable or the non-secure core is compromised in some way, as long as the BFT honesty guarantee is maintained, the chain will not fork. The security of the consensus protocol has been audited and formally verified.

3. More secure account key recovery and rotation protocol:

In order to prevent password If keys are stolen, Aptos supports the ability for any account to rotate its private key. Validators can also periodically rotate their consensus keys for added security. To avoid the problem of billions of dollars of value locked up due to lost keys, we are also working on developing new technologies for key recovery that can be directly integrated into the blockchain account model.

4. Multi-agent transaction function:

Multi-agent transactions use the signer type of Move , allowing any number of atomic operations across multiple on-chain accounts in a single transaction. This enables atomic swaps, K-of-N approvals, and arbitrary atomic operations between two or more on-chain entities to be done in a single transaction. Making these complex interactions indivisible improves security and performance. When combining multi-agent transactions with multi-signature support in one account, a wider range of composable patterns and use cases is possible.

5. Upgradability:

The Aptos blockchain can be upgraded as a key asset , and has successfully performed several major upgrades without downtime over the past few years. To achieve this, the management and configuration of validators is managed through on-chain state - facilitating community voting and fast execution of upgrades.
