Ontology 2022 Roadmap: Become the blockchain of choice for Web3 applications

In 2022, we are expected to be closer to Web3 than ever before. Four years of work in developing DID and data-related products, adopting a multi-virtual machine approach, etc., has made Ontology a leader in the field.

Ontology

In 2021, Web3 firmly established itself in the crypto community. More importantly, we are seeing signs that it is becoming more widely known outside the crypto realm. The combination of Web3 and the metasverse will probably be the focus of creativity in 2022.

Ontology (collectively Ontology) has been working to bring secure, trusted, privacy-respecting decentralized identity (DID) and data solutions to Web3. From the beginning, the goal of ontologies has been to build the infrastructure that users need to interact with a new generation of decentralized applications, and that goal has never changed.

In 2022, our goal is to build ontology into a high performance, low cost public chain platform and become the preferred blockchain for building Web3 applications. Meanwhile, ontology's efforts to create interoperability between different public chains, including the upcoming Ontology Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), are also planned to spawn more high-quality Web3 applications across a wide range of industries and services in the coming year.

Beyond that, providing easy access and a seamless experience is critical for users. That's why the goal of the ONTO Decentralized data client in 2022 is to be the preferred access point for Web3 networks and applications, and to provide the easiest access to Web3 for every individual by giving users ownership of their identity and data. This way of empowering developers and users to build and experience Web3 together highlights the goals of Ontology for 2022.

Decentralized identity and data;

Web3 should allow us to have self-managed identities and data, and it should allow us to choose what we present on the web, or how we exist in the metasomes, and what we are willing to share with others. These require technological interconnection and interoperability, as well as the emergence of more philosophical and collaborative discussions across the community about how identity is defined and changed.

Ultimately, Web3 will not be a single blockchain, but a collection of different chains -- each with its own characteristics, strengths, and subcultures. While there will be competition, there will also be tremendous opportunities for collaboration in Web3 to improve the ecosystem and user experience across the board.

In this context, ontologies will continue to optimize deeper product integration across different blockchains. Focusing on DID and data, ontologies will bring users joining the ecosystem a secure and self-managing experience of their digital identities.

The launch of the new ont. ID website (ont. ID) brings us one step closer to our goal. By providing cost-effective and personalized solutions to verify and manage identities, ONT ID, ONT Login And & have spent ONT TAG Both empower developers and support users.

Multi-virtual machine & NBSP;

Virtual machines (VMS) play a crucial role in both the interoperability requirements described above and in the extension of ontology-based applications. Based on multiple virtual machines, ontologies maximize interoperability and allow more developers to build applications on top of ontologies in development languages they are familiar with. Ontology EVM will be launched in the first quarter of 2022 with the EVM Foundation to incubate and support application development on ontology.

This release is the culmination of the hard work of the Ontology development team that has been developing the ONTOLOGY EVM since early 2021. EVM and the EVM Fund aim to establish seamless interoperability between ontology and Ethereum, and provide a good experience of compatibility for developers and users.

The new VM will join a set of existing VMS, including Native (Ontology) VM, NeoVM And & have spent WasmVM, and this is also a key step towards the realization of ontology multi-virtual machine. WasmVM will allow more traditional developers to deploy applications on blockchain. In addition, because Wasm is the most commonly used virtual machine in the traditional Internet, ontology support for it is also preparing for the large-scale transition from Web2 applications to Web3 in the future.

From the perspective of dApp development, the multi-virtual machine approach adopted by ontology allows DApps to be integrated into multiple platforms. This will help cross the chain. Reach a larger user base, promote their long-term growth, and enjoy the benefits of multiple alternative blockchains.

Web3

This multi-vm approach to DID and data brings us back to the importance of Web3. Ontologies, from the beginning, have been building the infrastructure needed for a cross-chain, interoperable Web3. Going forward, Ontology will continue to develop the following products that are already familiar to the community:

ONT ID

We will optimize ONT ID (ONT. ID), including ONT TAG, ONT Login and OScore, to be more applicable to all blockchains. Already, more than 1.5 million users are using ONT IDS to manage their digital identities and choose how, when and with whom their data is shared. In addition, we will continue to work on designing more DID products for developers to further expand the use of DID.

ONTO

The ONTO Decentralized Data Client (Onto.app) is an important entry point for everyone to access Web3 and is designed to provide the critical infrastructure for a seamless experience with Web3. Over the past year, we've seen ONTO grow by leaps and bounds. With over 750,000 users, The reach of ONTO's social media channels and community has grown 30-fold.

With the support of ontology decentralized identity framework, users can use ONTO Create their decentralized identity and verify credentials. ONTO, which stores ONT ID digital identities, allows users to log in to their multi-linked decentralized data clients using a single private key. Users can also use ONTO to manage digital assets including NFT, perform cross-chain interactions, keep up with the latest industry developments and events through news feeds in the client, and access a variety of mobile and web DApps anytime, anywhere. In the future, ONTO will continue to expand its support for multiple blockchains and dApps to make Web3 accessible.

Decentralized digital asset and distribution tool ONTO Anydrop also provides faster, cheaper and more convenient event support for our partners and will continue to serve the expansion of our ecosystem.

Wing Finance

Wing Finance will continue to use ontology's decentralized reputation solutions in its liquidity programs. Its unique and groundbreaking Inclusive Pool, combined with ontology OScore (ocredit.io), allows users to gain more convenience and privileges based on Web3 native credit and reputation scores. In the future, Ontology will continue to cooperate with Wing to develop more product lines and provide users with more diversified services, which will improve Wing's accessibility and allow more users to enter the mobility ecosystem.

SAGA

SAGA provides data management for the Web3 era. It offers a decentralized solution that gives data providers control over their data.

Ontologies are well positioned to support the growth and ecological expansion of GameFi, NFT, and countless other new decentralized applications based on these platforms. Ontology will also continue to develop more easy-to-use products and tools to meet the needs of The Times and make Web3 available to everyone, while also protecting user security and privacy and bringing a decentralized experience to the world.
