On September 13, MCDEX has partnered with Celer and integrated cBridge, allowing users to bridge assets from other tier 1 chains and Tier 2 Ethereum assets in MCDEX deployed on Arbitrum Rollup at a lower cost and delay. Celer cBridge also allows MCDEX users to skip the 7-day waiting period of Arbitrum to improve DeFi liquidity and transaction efficiency and further promote the adoption of MCDEX. Users can now access cBridge through the integration link on MCDEX. In addition, cBridge will support MCDEX's governance token MCB from Arbitrum to Ethereum for quick cross-chain withdrawals.
As the leading two-tier decentralized sustainable contract solution, one of MCDEX's key goals is to lower the barriers to use. While the cost of using this protocol has been significantly reduced, being in the Layer2 rollup chain does introduce higher costs and delays as users move other on-chain assets in and out of MCDEX. In fact, using Arbitrum's native bridging solution, it takes more than seven days to withdraw assets to Ethereum and then to other chains. This delay may discourage DeFi traders from using rollup-based applications due to long liquidity lock-ups. In addition, to get into a Layer2 rollup from a non-Ethereum chain requires at least two jumps: from other chains to Ethereum, and then from Ethereum to MCDEX's rollup. The fact that Ethereum always participates in the local bridging process means that users must pay hundreds of dollars in Ethereum gas fees to move assets from one low-cost chain to another. This expense will prevent many non-Whale users from using MCDEX's tier 2 advanced rollup.
What benefits does this collaboration between MCDEX and Celer bring to users?
Celer cBridge solves the problem mentioned above and provides a smooth user experience for MCDEX on and off the bridge. Using Celer's state channel core technology, cBridge is an unmanaged and untrusted cross-chain bridge solution. With cBridge, users no longer need to make additional jumps through Ethereum when bridging assets from other chains, and the cost of bridging can often be reduced by a factor of 100 with almost no latency. When users extract assets from the rollup chain to other chains, not only can additional hops through Ethereum be avoided, but more importantly, the extraction delay can be reduced from at least 7 days to just a few minutes.
This collaboration between MCDEX and Celer integrates Celer's cBridge solution as a bridge option on the MCDEX application interface to improve the user experience of MCDEX on and off the bridge through strong technical synergy between both sides. In addition, in order to promote the development of MCDEX's multi-chain governance ecosystem, Celer cBridge will also add support for MCDEX's native governance token MCB and allow users to extract MCB from Arbitrum to Ethereum in a few minutes instead of 7 days. In addition to technology integration, MCDEX and Celer will collaborate on marketing and community building. Both teams look forward to building a fruitful long-term strategic partnership.
