Looking at Blitmaps, NFT may not have to chase popularity

Read this article in 48 Minutes
This article is based on the example of Blitmaps, a recently collected NFT project.
If we look at an NFT like this
Cat of the Fat Garage by Ter, fat garage

I've been thinking about my own motivations when buying an NFT piece. While this decision may be very intuitive, "like, like, similar to XXX" (sorry, popularity is never in my vocabulary), there is some interesting observation, analysis, comparison, and persuasion that precedes this decision. These aspects can't be described in words (it's an invisible but efficient calculation process in the mind), but they can be summarized as some basic ideas.

All the media has focused on the price of Punks, but I think the more interesting thing is to unravel the puzzle of self-organization. If the order emerging on the Internet is some sort of regular consequence of the behaviour of the individuals constructing the network, the process of self-organization can be understood if a visualize of the formation of network structure is visualize. As a general method to identify communities and modules in networks, can NFT help better present network relationships?

This article is based on the example of Blitmaps[1], an NFT project that I recently bookended.

If we look at an NFT like this

Network

The reason why networks are a priority is because of the traceable nature of everything that happens on blockchain, onchain transaction, connect with decentralized social  I am very interested in whether the feature of identity can restore the form of self-organizing network more clearly, and then restore a more complex system.

"Social networks, politics, money, religion, language, culture all have an impact on the relationships between individuals, but when there is free space for personal relationships, the formation of these networks is not strictly planned. In all these cases, the overall organization of a system arises from the overall behavior of its components, A sort of bottom-up self-organization process that can explain why many Networks, even without planning, still show clear signs of order such as heterogeneity.

"Heterogeneity can be a marker of some sort of hidden ordered structure, not some top-down plan, but of all the elements of the system working together. The appearance of this feature in a wide range of different networks suggests that there may be some common underlying mechanism at work in many of these networks."

(Storytelling)

Storytelling is the part where people tell their own stories. In addition to the compelling plot, character design and story itself, I'll see if it's thinking about two things:

1/why onchain?

2/how collective?

First of all, it's an unanswered question, but that doesn't stop him from asking the question and showing you his thinking, "Why is it chained?" . Drugs or what's the difference between this and the old stuff? What you can do now can be done without blockchain.

Second, it is well known that one of the most hyped transformative qualities of blockchain is a new way of organizing. I first got a sense of this when I was writing gitCoin's 15-day hackathon Discord -- spending half a month in Gitcoin's online hackathon Discord (interviewing several participants). It was the first time I felt that people from all over the world were constantly discussing and collaborating on the same thing. Now in the case of NFT, this "same thing" becomes a symbol ©️, a community symbol. So how does it motivate the various participants to iterate on a shared story and keep it going?

People behind

The thing about people is that they have to do with networks. They are the "hubs", or superconnectors. There is overlap overlap between network formed by some/some people at the core (think of it as DAO network) and other networks. Only through intuition observation, punks, monkey BAYC, Hashmask, Blitmap and so on have many overlap nodes.

"Heterogeneous networks have hub nodes (superconnectors), an obvious example being airport hubs (London, Frankfurt, New York, etc.), which carry most of the capacity of the entire air traffic; and the hub of metabolic networks is the molecule ATP (adenosine triphosphate) : It acts as an energy carrier in a wide range of biochemical reactions, or in scientific collaboration, where key players collaborate with a large number of peers: people like Paul Erdes *"

Paul Erdes number (angstroms for short) * : Paul Erdes has an Angstrom of 0, which is 1 if he co-wrote a paper with him. A person must have at least K intermediaries to be associated with Paul Erdes, and his angstrom is K +1. For example, if Paul Erdes co-writes papers with A and A co-writes papers with B, but Paul Erdes does not co-write papers with B, then the angstrom number of A is 1 and the angstrom number of B is 2.

Ok, so let's look at these aspects with a concrete example. Since I have a limited number of videos to read (pooh, read NFT), I will discuss this specifically based on my recent COLLECTION of NFT.

Blitmaps

(storytelling)

The NFT series is called Blitmaps and is set in a science fantasy universe.

Blitmap - original NFT

Blitmap is the original NFT of this series, consisting of 100 original pixel designs by 16 artists, and 1600 siblings derived from any two mixes created by the community. There are 1,700 works.

·Blitnauts -- "living" characters

图片

Character 5: DEX

Blitnauts is an extension of Blitmaps, a 10-character NFT designed by multiple artists. This leads to the introduction of a new co-create series -- a group of living robots (see, their faces are Blitmaps) whose mission is to protect Blitmaps and world peace. Blitnauts will be distributed free to all Blitmap owners.

·The Enemy -- Blitnauts' enemy

Also, enemy characters will be distributed for free to all Blitmap& Owner of Blitnauts.

How collective?

· First, each Blitnaut is an asynchronous collaboration between five people:

Includes 3 artists:

The artist who designed Blitmap originals A and B

The artist who designed the Blitnaut prototype

Contains 2 community members:

Owner of Blitmap Sibling mixed by A and B

Anyone with any Blitmap Sibling can choose a Blitnaut

· Customize your NFT characteristics (customize-your-character-on-chain) -- color and chain your NFT character.

Before IIntroduce Takensthereom", also mentioned this feature: collectors can add custom elements for the works on the chain, with a line of code can change the appearance of the work, this process on the chain.

· According to roadmap, Blitnauts' name, their Enemies, and The game/story he will be involved in will be suggested and voted on by The community.

Blitmap Roadmap

Network

Blitmap's community and meme network is formed around founder Dom Hoffman and a number of active collaborators. I suspect that in this network, the main nodes will not change much, but the connection mode. This means that these active nodes are either in one NFT network or another, which together form a network of networks.

"Changes in some networks, mainly focused on the connection, and vertices are almost not changed. Such as interbank network (unless the bank bankruptcy or new) is established on the market and the airport network. Another group of network is reversed, such as scientific papers reference network, a new node (paper) is added in the process of which is more important than rearrange the wired."

A network of core collaborators

I made a rough map of what the network would look like in my mind, and there would be more nodes and links if I refined it.

The figure below is a brief introduction to the people (nodes) involved in the figure above.

And the [[]] in the graph will form a new network, which I don't have to draw for you to know.

Next, maybe we can use track community members (nodes) to form a social graph through social media such as Twitter and Discord, and conduct visual analysis to see how these nodes are internally linked and connected to the external network. But I do not have the experience of capturing relevant data, interested partners can assist this party;)

Network of Collectors -- Data from Nansen and Dune

The other part is the collector network formed around it. I haven't studied this part in depth, but I will list some data sources/tools for interested friends to dig together. The network of collectors is mostly represented by on-chain data, with Nansen. ai and Dune Analytic as the current on-chain data compilation centers. Their data sets are mostly in the form of charts that are used to "track the market" or to see the behavior of an address over time. But not many people are reinventing it in the same way as a graph. Some data scientists, such as Albert-Laszlo Barabasi [3], use some APIS of Open markets, such as Opensea and SuperRare, to present such networks hidden in the market.

Write in the last

Based on specific observations, this paper proposes some hypotheses related to NFT networks and tries to find some generalizations. When you present something to the public, you want them to understand it as you understand it yourself, not as a way of telling them to follow the fashion. I even think that fashion is not that important, because there are so many popular things that we can only "catch up" and cannot understand, and therefore cannot predict. Remember how the hero of Number one won the first key? Because he entered the "see" of the underground layer, rather than the numerous unsuccessful pursuit of the upper layer.

Movie Player One

The next step is to test the conjecture, collect data and visualize it. When I talked to the developers at Nansen and Dune, they marveled at their users' growing interest in NFT data (Dune recently launched its new data visualization and composition tool, Footprint, open for beta).

We all know that things do not stand alone and are interconnected, and NFT provides a scenario to explore for measuring network effects. I believe that a lot of interesting discoveries will emerge from observations -- data mining -- data visualization, which may answer a series of questions or lead to more fascinating ones.

"There are many problems to be tackled: among them, making more detailed models to fit special networks and dynamics; finding new relevent network data; digging deeper into topology to find unnoticed regularities and fully explain the existing ones; characterizing small Networks of networks."

How do I further understand the web through data and combine these tools to help us make decisionsOwnershipLabsOne of the focuses of the study. Ultimately we want to help people (at least for now) understand more with Curate NFT: NFT is more than just JPEG, and its superpowers may never be a ticket to equity grading, but rather a magnifying glass to the fascinating web.
