After various projects have outsourced oracle functions to decentralized solutions such as Chainlink Price Feeds, DeFi has really ushered in a wave of innovation. Developers no longer need to spend time developing the core back-end infrastructure, but instead devote themselves to innovating DeFi products. Similarly, Chainlink Keepers will also accelerate the innovation of hybrid smart contracts and provide developers with access to secure and reliable off-chain computing resources. With Chainlink Keepers, developers can automatically trigger on-chain functions when predefined conditions are met without manual operations, relying on centralized services, or modifying underlying protocols.

We previously had a successful beta release, live testing with an initial group of users. And now we are happy to announce that Chainlink Keepers is officially live on the Ethereum mainnet and fully open to the public. All developers, decentralized applications, and DAOs can use Chainlink Keepers as a decentralized off-chain computing layer, reliably and automatically trigger key smart contract functions, and implement advanced dApp functions through custom contract trigger methods.

Chainlink Keepers can represent hybrid smart contracts to implement a series of rich DevOps services and off-chain computing, including:

• Execute limit order transactions on the decentralized trading platform.

• Tokens are minted as the reserve grows.

• Earn income from the vault.

• Rebase Elastic Supply Token.

• Rebalanced on-chain trading and liquidity mining strategies.

• Liquidation of undercollateralized loans.

• Assets are unlocked after the idle period ends.

• Recharge when the token balance is lower than the minimum value.

• There are many other application scenarios yet to be developed.

Chainlink Keepers is a mature infrastructure for smart contract automation

Chainlink2.0 white paper The grand vision of the Chainlink network is mentioned, that is, the decentralized oracle network (DON) can not only transmit data between the chain and the chain, but also perform calculations under the chain. Chainlink Keepers is combined with Chainlink VRF and OCR previously released by Chainlink to jointly promote off-chain computing services to a new level. Hybrid smart contract developers can obtain off-chain computing services through Chainlink DON, especially the ability to automatically trigger smart contract execution based on predefined conditions.

Smart contracts are deterministic programs that run on the blockchain, input data in the form of transactions on the chain, trigger the contract code logic, and finally output the results. Developers can use Keeper tasks to create event-based verifiable data input, and the data will only be broadcast on the chain when certain conditions are met. Some Keeper tasks are relatively simple, such as obtaining income once a week at a fixed time; while other Keeper tasks are relatively complex, such as calling a liquidation function when the user’s loan collateral ratio is insufficient. Each Keeper task needs to start off-chain calculations, first verify that the conditions are met, and then trigger the on-chain function.

Chainlink Keepers allows developers to be extremely creative, automatically triggering the execution of smart contracts based on verifiable conditional data, and creating various innovative applications. Chainlink Keepers provides a highly programmable framework for developers to create advanced keeper tasks using off-chain computing resources. In addition, developers can also take advantage of a reliable and verifiable decentralized node network to outsource the keeper task.

Chainlink Keepers provides developers with high-quality decentralized off-chain computing resources and has the following key advantages:

• Guaranteed reliability to the greatest extent - Chainlink Keepers are run by professional DevOps teams who have already secured tens of billions of dollars in Chainlink price feeds value. Additionally, Chainlink Keepers operate in a decentralized architecture that can failover automatically, completely eliminating the risk of a single point of failure.

• On-Chain Validation - Chainlink Keepers has a robust set of on-chain monitoring tools that generate EVM calldata for off-chain computations, allowing users to evaluate data inputs to Keeper nodes and validate them before performing critical on-chain operations condition.

• Low cost——Chainlink Keepers can carry out complex off-chain calculations, and establish a node rotation screening framework to avoid gas price wars, so the cost is maintained at lower and more stable levels.

Keepers help Chainlink ecological expansion

Currently hundreds of users are using it Or actively integrate Chainlink decentralized services like Price Feeds, Chainlink VRF, and Proof of Reserves. Chainlink Keepers will bring new functions to the Chainlink ecosystem, help all projects develop more advanced hybrid smart contract applications, and create additional value for users.

The following are some Chainlink ecological projects that have been launched or are integrating Chainlink Keepers. These use cases demonstrate the many unique values that Keepers bring to the Chainlink ecosystem.

Aave

Aave is a DeFi liquidity protocol, users can borrow and lend crypto on the platform Assets, providing liquidity to the platform can also earn income. Aave will use Chainlink Keepers to continuously monitor the health of user loans off-chain, calculate the loan collateralization ratio, and check whether the collateralization ratio is lower than the liquidation threshold (such as 150%) preset by the fund pool. If it is found that the loan mortgage ratio is insufficient, Chainlink Keepers will call the liquidation function of the Aave protocol, which can ensure that the mortgage is sufficient to repay the loan even in the event of severe market fluctuations or severe network congestion. Sometimes liquidating a loan has no profit margin for the liquidator, and failure to liquidate will lead to insufficient mortgage ratio, so Keepers are particularly important. Each Keeper will be economically incentivized to perform all registered maintenance tasks, ensuring timely liquidation of all positions even if there is no profit margin.

PoolTogether

PoolTogether is an open source decentralized protocol that provides users with a lossless savings game. The user puts a token into the fund pool to generate interest. After a period of time, all interest in the pool is awarded to a randomly drawn winning user. Chainlink Keepers can be used to continuously monitor the fund pool, and call PoolTogether's smart contract to notify the fund pool when the game starts and ends, thereby completely automating the game and payment process.

Synthetix

Synthetix is a decentralized derivatives protocol, users can obtain over-collateralized synthetic assets and trade with liquidity pool contracts with zero slippage. Synthetix will adopt Chainlink Keepers in the Fee Period Closing service. Chainlink Keepers will call this function at the end of the transaction fee cycle to automatically distribute transaction fees and staking rewards for synthetix.exchange.

Chainlink's ever-expanding Keepers ecosystem

• Bancor: It is a decentralized trading platform that adopts the automatic market maker model, supports unilateral liquidity pools and avoids impermanent losses. Bancor plans to integrate Keepers in the upcoming V3 to further simplify the DeFi user experience for end users and add more advanced features to the AMM protocol.

• Alchemix: It is a loan agreement for automatic repayment. It deposits user mortgage funds into Yearn's income aggregation vault, and the interest generated is used to repay user loans. Alchemix plans to use Keepers to trigger automatic collection of income from the vault and automatic deposit of funds into the vault to automatically repay user loans and automatically deposit collateral assets into Yearn.

• BarnBridge: It is a DeFi risk tokenization protocol that creates financial derivatives to hedge against income fluctuations and market price fluctuations. BarnBridge integrates Chainlink Keepers in its product SMART Exposure, monitors the risk exposure of token positions off-chain, and calls BarnBridge's on-chain contract when the vault needs to be rebalanced.

• Others: In addition to this, there are many other DeFi applications that plan to integrate or have successfully integrated Chainlink Keepers to automatically trigger smart contract functions. These DeFi applications include Visor Finance, ParaSwap, yAxis, Base Protocol, EthSign, Nifty Royal, B Protocol, Impermax, Flurry Finance, DeFi Network, Finance.vote, etc.

How to use Chainlink Keepers in dApp

Development Users can use Chainlink Keepers to easily add new maintenance tasks and automate various smart contract functions.

Chainlink Keepers support a variety of different configuration modes, performing computation off-chain and verifying on-chain. The following design ideas can be used as a reference for developers:

Verify the conditions for triggering the contract

Keepers can call on-chain functions when conditions are met, but developers can also customize how smart contracts verify keeper transactions before executing code logic.

• There is no need to verify when the condition is met, and the contract on the chain is directly triggered-when the predefined condition is met, the state change must be executed, but in some cases, the condition is not met There is also no problem with executing state changes, such as taking yield from treasury early before the end of the cycle, or pre-charging a state channel before the balance falls below a threshold. In this case, the smart contract does not need to verify the conditions first, so as to avoid as much as possible keeper calls that are of little value to the user to reduce costs.

• Must verify whether the condition is met before triggering the contract——The state change must be executed when the condition is met, and in some cases, it cannot be executed when the condition is not met State changes, such as liquidating undercollateralized loans or withdrawing tokens from locked contracts. In this case, when the performUpkeep function is called, the smart contract must verify that conditions are met, such as looking at the on-chain price reference contract or block number, to ensure the validity of the state change before executing the contract.

Put high-cost calculations off-chain to minimize on-chain costs

Developers can also choose to use Chainlink Keepers to perform calculations off the chain as much as possible. The purpose of this is to minimize the cost on the chain, especially Reduce the data sent when calling on-chain functions.

One way is to check whether a large number of addresses and status conditions are met under the chain, for example, first check which addresses are valid addresses for airdrops, and then A subset of conditions execute on-chain state changes. The developer calls the on-chain function based on the result returned by the checkUpkeep function and passes in the appropriate data. The most ideal situation is that the smart contract verifies the conditions on the chain, and since the keeper only passes in a part of relevant data for verification, the gas fee can be reduced to the greatest extent.

Set up multiple maintenance tasks in the same smart contract

< p>

Smart contracts can also be used to handle multiple maintenance tasks, helping developers manage on-chain costs and customize triggers for more advanced dApps, such as verifying multiple different condition. Here are specific examples:

• Manage unbounded maintenance tasks——Create range bounds for Chainlink Keepers, minimize unnecessary on-chain calculations, and reduce The computational complexity of contract execution on the chain. In this way, developers can maintain on-chain execution within the preset range of activities, and the upper cost limit of transaction execution is relatively easy to predict.

• Configure checkUpkeep function——write smart contract code, execute different logic based on Keeper's calldata, and execute different logic in the same smart contract function. Developers can use this function flexibly according to their own unique application requirements, such as triggering to obtain the income of a certain liquidity mining when the conditions are met, or reinvesting positions when the conditions are not met.
