The wild life of McAfee, the father of soft murder, conspiracy theories and cryptocurrencies

The story of a liberal enthusiast who lived at sea in exile in Cuba.

"I predict that Bitcoin will reach at least $500,000 by the end of 2020. If I'm wrong, I'll live eat my XX."

Back in 2017, McAfee boasted that the number of bitcoin coins could reach 501,000, and later revised his price target to $1 million. Since then, the price of Bitcoin has gone from thousands of dollars to tens of thousands of dollars. We don't know if it will ever reach half a million dollars, but McAfee will never see half a million dollars -- he's probably dead.

On June 23, the Spanish judiciary ruled that McAfee would be extradited to the United States. "I believe these charges are politically motivated," he told Spain's high court at the first hearing of his extradition trial.

On June 24, several foreign media reported his death, in the report, the famous KOL, who had vowed not to commit suicide, "committed suicide in a Spanish prison."

McAfee had been wanted by US law enforcement agencies on a number of charges, including tax evasion. In March, the SEC accused him of hiding more than $23 million in cryptocurrency income. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison. After years on the run, McAfee was arrested in Spain in October 2020.

John McAfee is the founder of McAfee, the world's first commercially operated antivirus software. He is known as the father of antivirus software for his profound attnisations in the field of security. This is what he is best known for, as well as being a two-time US presidential candidate, conspiracy theorist, and cryptocurrency supporter.

McAfee has previously been dogged by controversy for its maverick style.

A picture was posted on his Instagram account only about half an hour after news of his death was first reported. This surprised everyone -- dead people are not allowed to play with their phones. The image is simple, with a black capital letter "Q" depicted on a white background.

The picture of "Q", believed by many to point to "Qanon", has led to speculation that his suicide may have been a mystery.

Qanon is a far-right conspiracy theory that has been widely circulated overseas. It was first described by an anonymous 4chan user who went by the name Q. The theory is that there is a shadow rule in the US against Trump and his supporters. Qanon and his supporters generally follow Trump and have been denounced by some as a "crazy conspiracy theory cult."

Bankers colluding with officials in many countries, transnational secret criminal organizations, children's crimes, propaganda machines, old media... These are issues that Mr Qanon frequently addresses. They believe that America is dominated by shadow rule, that American democracy is an illusion, and that the world will eventually usher in a "storm and a great awakening".

Soon, # McCaFeeDidNtKillhimself became a trending Twitter search, and the event got people talking about it. The mysterious Q, in particular, has sparked a frenzy among conspiracy theorists. Marc-Andre Argentino, a researcher at the International Center for the Study of Radicalization (ICSR), noted that "there are those who say he has information about Hillary that is not known, those who say he is Epstein 2.0, and those who suspect he is Q."

Something even more dramatic has happened. A netizen found that a string of mysterious characters had been hidden in his "Q" pictures:

"Instructions: FBMD23000965010000290400004b0400009d0400007a0c0000f90d0000af1000005e1200000414000068170000"

Soon after, McAfee's Instagram account was shut down. The character has sparked much speculation that, given his legendary life and mysterious suicide, there may be a reason behind his death. And this string of mysterious characters, is the password to uncover all this. There is even a suspicion that the decoding might allow McAfee's private Bitcoin keys to be obtained. Whether it is the Chinese Internet or the English Internet, a huge online treasure hunt is slowly opening.

But before the curtain had quite begun, it came to an abrupt end.

Rhythm found that the string was not actively added by McAfee. The string "FBMD" stands for "Facebook Metadata", which is automatically added by Instagram for image tracking and data collection. All images uploaded to Instagram are added with the same data.

Fugitive on the high seas: Cuban presidential candidate in exile

McAfee's distrust of the system is high. Over the years, McAfee has claimed to have a number of plots against him, and has gained support from conspiracy theorists. Perhaps because of his unique personality, McAfee has 1.11 million followers on Twitter.

For years he lived on his yacht -- sailing it out on the high seas, free of any jurisdiction.

McAfee even participated in the U.S. presidential election at sea.

He was the Libertarian Party's nominee in the 2016 presidential election, but did not become the presidential candidate. He lost to another candidate. After his defeat, he announced that he would run again for the next presidential election. In 2018, he made good on his promise to formally announce that he would run in the 2020 election.

In 2019, McAfee was caught up in an IRS investigation and said he would continue his campaign through "exile" -- living and working on the high seas. After a spell on the high seas, he said he had moved his campaign headquarters to Havana, Cuba. Around the same time, McAfee began tweeting in support of Che Guevara and related ideologies, as well as criticizing U.S. officials. The comments led to criticism from the American Libertarian Party, which he supports.

High on McAfee's campaign agenda was promoting the use of cryptocurrencies.

McAfee has long been a supporter and promoter of cryptocurrencies and has linked its presidential campaign to the cryptocurrency. As he prepared for the 2020 election, he said he would start his own party if the Libertarian Party no longer accepted him. "I will start my own party, which I believe will better serve the crypto community."

McAfee has always had a deep interest in the crypto world. Even the campaign is still about cryptocurrency. In preparation for his second campaign, he set up his own personal brand and launched a "McAfee Redemption Unit" program, which announced the issuance of tokens for physical collectibles and used the proceeds to fund his campaign.

Back in 2014, McAfee founded Future Tense, a startup dedicated to building a decentralized network called "D-Central." This is a network where messages and files can be sent anonymously.

In 2016, McAfee joined MGT Capital Investments, a technology company focused on social games, as CEO. With his lobbying, MGT moved into the mining of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The following year, McAfee stepped down as CEO of MGT to take a fresh dive into the crypto world. CEO of Luxcore, a To B blockchain company.

After being a security expert, he has transformed his image into one in encryption. In 2019, McAfee also launched a cryptocurrency trading platform called McAfee Magic.

But he is also controversial in the crypto world.

Federal prosecutors had charged him with defrauding investors of their money in a shanzhai currency scheme. Prosecutors contend that McAfee and his team purchased large amounts of counterfeit currency in the program and artificially inflated its market price online "through false and misleading publicity to conceal its true, self-interested motives."

"Altogether, members of the McAfee team earned more than $2 million in illicit profits from their counterfeit currency program," the Justice Department said. The grand jury indictment contends that the group received "in excess of $11 million in undisclosed gains" from investors.

He even set up his own personal NFT during the recent NFT boom.

"McAfee NFT" is listed in the first section of the McAfee website. However, its release date will probably be "COMING SOON" forever.

From software moguls to security experts to cryptocurrency upstarts. It is difficult for us to evaluate the erratic man.

McAfee left the company he founded in 1994, but he went on to become one of McAfee's most vocal and prominent critics, arguing that the software was becoming less user-centric. In the crypto world, McAfee is also controversial. Some say he's a rabid preacher, some say he's a notorious crook, and we can't quite define McAfee.

But McAfee has its own answer. In his personal NFT, he describes himself as follows: "Few people left more traces on the planet than John McAfee. McAfee's wild, hysterical journey took us from the gods to the demons... Guns, young girls and drugs energized him, but his deception and sense of humor made him feel alive. To his mysterious Escobar life, to his own death, we embark on an excessive adventure of drugs, fraud, sex, violence and murder."

On June 16th, at the age of 75, he sent out a tweet that suggested things were not going well for him. "The US thought I was hiding the cryptocurrency. The rest of my assets were seized, my friends disappeared for fear of being implicated, and I had nothing."

"However, I have no regrets."
