Failure to vote will be regarded as a vote against the Draft Compensation Plan

The Japanese cryptocurrency trading platform Mt.Gox issued a notice on May 31 that the online civil compensation system has launched voting function. From today, claimants can begin voting on whether or not to accept civil rehabilitation proposals. The deadline for claimants to vote online is October 8.

In its notice, Mt. Gox wrote that a failure to vote would be considered a vote against the Draft Compensation Plan. At least 50% of votes are needed to pass the bill.

Mt.Gox, once the world's largest crypto trading platform, went bankrupt in 2014 after hackers stole a large amount of bitcoin, according to a previous report by Rulse. The Bitcoin-overloaded platform has been unable to pay its creditors for years after filing for bankruptcy protection.

At the creditors' meeting on March 25, 2020, Mt.Gox issued a crypto document which indicated that if creditors wish to deliver their claims in crypto, they will be given priority in the two cryptocurrencies, BTC and BCH. Other cryptocurrencies, such as BSV, will be sold. Mt. Gox bankruptcy trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi filed a draft compensation plan with the Tokyo District Court on Dec. 15, 2020, and a revised version was filed on Feb. 15 this year.
