As the demand for Ethereum has grown, gas has become more expensive and many people have been put off.

The good news is that Ethereum is currently building and shifting its focus to capacity expansion, so high gas costs are no longer a problem. The immediate problem is that Ethereum is still in transition.

In addition, there are methods and techniques available today that can help us reduce our expenses. With a bit of research, you can be more comfortable with the gas issue and avoid wasting unnecessary ETH by taking detour when using Ethereum.

6 Ways to Save on Ethereum Gas Bills & NBSP;

1、 优化交易时机

Ethereum gas prices can fluctuate wildly in a single day, depending on different on-chain activity and market movements around the world. So in some cases, gas prices are usually lower. If you seize the moment and trade, it's also a great start to reducing your gas bills. So what is the best time to trade?

Generally speaking, working days gas  Prices are higher and lower over the weekend, so it's a good time to trade over the weekend.

As for timing, Paxful's latest report answers the following questions:

"The busiest time of day is also the most expensive time. It's typically from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST. The lowest is from midnight to 4 a.m. EST."

So you can also choose to trade on a weekday, and gas charges may be lower than otherwise.

2. Using Ethereum Capacity Expansion Scheme & NBSP;

Ethereum's ecosystem of scaling solutions is still in its early stages, but the projects already running are impressive and optimized on a daily basis. You can use these schemes to take advantage of Ethereum's instant low price trading.

In this process, you can use Layer 2 solutions, such as the project based on Optimistic rollups mutual zk-rollups, which provide a super-efficient infrastructure while continuing all the security guarantees of Ethereum.

In addition, there are extensible technology sidechain options. Like Polygon's POS chain or XDAI, they can effectively separate out efficient blockchains, but still be consistent with Ethereum and meet Ethereum's needs.

As you go further, you may only need to interact with the Ethereum mainchain occasionally and handle most cryptocurrency activity in Layer 2 and cross-chain environments at affordable prices. So early familiarity with these solutions will be a big benefit.

Trade Defi tokens on Deversifi through Stark Ex

Through Optimism, we can obtain SNX's pledge reward

Donate on Gitcoin through ZKSync

3. Use GAS tokens & NBSP;

Simply put, you can do this in GAS  Mint GAS tokens when costs are low and then in GAS  Redeem when the price goes up so you can get a ETH refund and use the money to pay your gas bills.

Gas tokens work because Ethereum's storage refund system refunds Ethereum users who delete storage variables, which demonstrates Ethereum's flexibility.

So, with GAS tokens you can grab GAS  Low price, and then unlock the status when the price is higher, smoothly get a refund.

Gas tokens are actually blocking the current scale of Ethereum, causing Gas pricing to be inefficient and therefore likely to be phased out in the next few years. But it also lowers your gas bill, so it's good for customers right now. A popular gas Token project at the moment is Gas Token.io.

The project has two different tokens, GST1 and GST2, which work in a similar way. To use one of these tokens, simply run to the "Contract" page on EtherScan and use the "Mint and Free" feature. Whenever you release a token, you get a Ethereum refund, using this money to pay for your GAS  Fees.

4. Use DApps that minimize gas costs

Some decentralized applications on Ethereum explicitly offer products with minimal gas.

An example is the V2 Vaults of Yearn and the KeeperDAO, which together can automate and batch user transactions. So instead of having to pay for gas manually each time, everyone can pay for it in one lump sum, which greatly reduces everyone's gas bill.

Another item to consider is the Balancer V2Trading agreement. The V2 system makes the Balancer thread one large vault instead of many combined pools of mines, which makes gas traded through the Balancer much cheaper.

Using an app that offers the best gas prices on your contract is one of the easiest ways to save on your gas bill. You just have to compare the one that saves you the most!

5. Develop trading strategies through Defi Saver

If you can test and simulate a transaction without executing it, how much gas will you have to pay before it is paid?

You can do the simulation with Defi Saver, a one-stop asset management solution.

Here's how the process works. You can use Recipe Creator to line up any type of Ethereum activity you want and then run emulation mode to test these activities without paying any gas charges.

This system is not a direct way to save gas costs, but it is a way to adjust the transaction to help us reduce gas costs.

Use an application that offers gas discounts

The Ethereum project knows that customers are being hit by the high price of gas, so some projects are offering customers discounts on gas to reduce their fees.

Two related projects come to mind, Balancer and Furucombo.

Earlier this year, Balancer introduced a program that will refund a portion of the gas cost of a transaction pair to users who transactional partly through Balancer via the associated management token BAL. This means that if you are trading DeFi, consider trading through Balancer, as you will get a fair amount of BAL, which is only used for trading through the protocol.

You can also use things like Furucombo  Such a DEFI connector dApp, which is currently running a GAS compensation activity, rewards the user of the protocol with COMBO tokens.

These programs are new, but so far they have been successful for their protocols. If more protocols use similar procedures in the future, it will be a natural outcome.

conclusion

High ETH gas prices are not a permanent problem. With Layer 2 expansion and ETH2, these prices will drop significantly over the next year.

However, we now have to learn how to deal with gas bills. So the next time you execute a trade on Ethereum, you can pay more attention to the time of the trade, or you can execute the same trade on a scale-up scheme, etc. This can help you save a lot of ETH!
