In April this year, with the gradual popularity of Chia mining, the supply and demand of SSD market is increasingly tight, large capacity SSD also announced a shortage of supply.

The Chia coin attracted a lot of attention a month ago when some hard drives in the Japanese market began to run out of stock. At the time, the cryptocurrency was less than 600 petabytes in size. Within a month, the size has increased dramatically from 600 petabytes to 10 exabytes (note: 1 petabyte =1024 terabytes, 1 exabyte =1024 petabytes).

The SSD hard disk is used as a temporary storage disk for fast reading and writing in the CHIA mining system. There will be a large number of disk reading and writing operations during the whole operation process. A 100GB plot file needs 2TB of reading and writing, which consumes a lot of SSD.

Previously, Jiahe Kingway stated that Chia mining can seriously deplore the SSD life, so both manufacturers and players need to consider the SSD quality assurance issues caused by mining, as well as the disk outflow issues.
