Nasdaq-listed cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase App topped the charts in Apple's App Store in the US on May 12.
According to Apple's App Store Top Charts list, Coinbase is now the most popular App in the US, ahead of TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and the trading App Robinhood. At launch, Cash App, which allows users to transfer money and buy bitcoin (BTC), was ranked 12th, while Binance and Trust apps were ranked 16th and 17th respectively.
Coinbase's app reached the top of the Apple App Store last month, but has been unable to overtake Robinhood. However, public attention appears to have increased since the company began trading on Nasdaq in April, which could lead to an increase in the number of its mobile subscribers. The cryptocurrency exchange platform has also partnered with auction giant Sotheby's to promote crypto payments.
In contrast, members of Congress may still be watching Robinhood, which was accused of market manipulation earlier this year after Reddit users shorted GameStop and other stocks. Last week, the House Financial Services Committee held its third hearing on GameStop's stock shorting controversy.
Coinbase's trading App, which first launched on the Apple App Store in 2014, was downloaded about two million times in April, according to analytics site SensorTower.
