On February 3, automated market-makers Balancer announced its much-anticipated decentralized trading agreement V2 version, the version to "safety, flexibility, efficiency and gas efficiency of funds" as the core in a series of upgrades, but the liquidity of miners are curious about all important liquidity dig the details, the details are still in development.

"The major architectural change between Balancer V1 and Balancer V2 is the transition to a single vault that can hold and manage all assets added to all Balancer pools," Balancer co-founder and CEO Fernandomartinelli wrote in a blog post.

This architecture will mean that all assets will be processed through a single central vault, a development that will in turn increase the GAS efficiency of the entire agreement.   An increase in gas price efficiency will be particularly welcome for traders and arbitrageurs. Recently, gas prices have risen to extremely high levels, and congestion has led to multiple projects in the decentralized finance and gaming sectors considering different tier 2 scaling solutions.

However, many observers are excited by the customizability of the Balancer V2 enhancements. Balancer is already arguably the most customizable AMM, allowing users to create their own pools with variable fee structures and pool weights. V2 will allow users to set the curvature of their pools, which can make new products possible and achieve greater efficiency with greater understanding of pool curvature.

New agreements, new pools of liquidity

While the protocol upgrade is ready and under review, the details of V2 mining parameters are not set in stone.

Shortly after V2 was announced, Balancer co-founder and CTO Mike McDonald posted a post on Balancer's governance forum,Invite users to "brainstorm" V2 fluid mining parameters.  "Actually the Balancer team didn't understand this either," McDonald wrote. "Our goal is to start more discussion among the public in order to engage community members."

The goal of the new liquidity mining program will be to focus on being agile enough to quickly provide pools of "hot tokens" and the transaction fees that come with them, while still ensuring sustainability and simplicity, unlike V1's focus on "long tail" assets.

McDonald also writes that the improved mobility mining program and the community incentives it provides are all part of a long-term vision of fully decentralized governance. "Our goal is to achieve the widest possible distribution between users and time in order to decentralize ownership and thus manage protocols."

Balancer protocol governance token BAL continues to rise

These announcements are positive news for the Balancer Protocol Governance Token (BAL) price, which is up nearly 20% today and 135% this month, according to Coingecko, ranking in the top 10 for both periods. Balancer now plans to launch new fluid mining parameters in March.

The competition between Sushiswap and Uniswap has been making headlines recently, but the Balancer V2's features and reconfigured liquidity mining program could make the AMM market a three-way race.

All three deals are currently in the top 10 for total locked value, with Balancer valued at just under $1 billion, while Sushiswap and Uniswap are valued at $2.5 billion and $3.25 billion, respectively.
