Today, the blockchain industry is still in an experimental stage, and the "TCP/IP" belonging to the blockchain has not yet been formed. The contention of a hundred schools of thought in the protocol layer leads to the fact that it is still too early to talk about the outbreak of the future application layer, and the innovation needs time to verify. Yet when all eyes are on price, innovation is often overlooked, and it is these innovations that underpin the value of the entire industry.
To this end, KuCoin has launched a series of "2020 NEXT" activities, with 1-2 innovative projects per session, in the hope that their thoughts can bring value to the development of the whole industry.
在经过数十天的激烈角逐之后,Taraxa 与 Helium 最终成为了律动「2020 NEXT」 第三期对话项目。The Internet of Things, originating in The field of media, is The third revolution of The information science and technology industry. What kind of spark will come when the Internet of Things incorporates encryption? As a technology that has already landed in the real world, IoT+ blockchain setupWill it be a breakthrough for encryption technology?
8 月 13 日, Taraxa 的创始人兼 CEO Steven 与 Helium 的 COO Frank Mong 在律动直播间一起和大家聊了聊「当落地开始大于协议」, IoT+区块链会有怎样的新机遇产生?

The following is the transcript of the live broadcast by Rhythm BlockBeats
Before the BlockBeats start, please introduce yourself and the project to the audience.
Taraxa CEO Steven:Hi, everyone! It's a pleasure to be here. I'm Steven Taraxa's founder. Prior to founding Taraxa, I was a partner in the strategic consulting practice of Monitor Deloitte and was involved in founding several startups in the areas of mobile healthcare and the Internet of Things. I have a BACHELOR's and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford university.
The goal of Taraxa is to build a decentralized infrastructure to achieve trusted business collaboration with minimal coordination steps. We have created a highly extensible public ledger from scratch, and in the near future we will build a new business collaboration platform based on non-tamper-proof audit logs to minimize confusion and disputes among business partners.
Helium COO Frank:Passion fans, hello everyone, I am Helium COO Frank, I have joined Helium for more than two and a half years. Prior to that, I was senior Vice President of Product Marketing at Palo Alto Networks, Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Security Product Group at HP, and Vice President of Marketing at Trend Micro. I have been deeply involved in the cybersecurity field for more than 20 years.
With Helium, we're working on building the world's first peer-to-peer wireless network for the Internet of Things. Small sensors like climate monitoring, GPS tracking and water meters don't have dedicated wireless infrastructure to connect to the Internet.
The Helium community is creating wireless infrastructure with the following three priorities,
1) Helium Hotspot (LoRaWAN Wireless Protocol and Helium blockchain).
2) "Casting destruction Balance" block chain/encryption (HNT/DC).
3) Millions of Lorawan-compatible sensors can be connected to the Internet using the Helium network.
Rhythm BlockBeats: What was the inspiration for your project, the founders? What are the reasons and opportunities for making IoT+ blockchain decisions?
Helium COO FrankHelium has been trying out how to build a global iot network for seven years. We've tried different approaches with little success. Until two and a half years ago, BTC and ETH were household names in the US, and we thought that maybe we could integrate encryption into Helium Hotspot and create a global network in a decentralized way where people could build, own and operate networks. Therefore, we created the Helium blockchain and provided proof of coverage (Proof Of Coverage -- This allows any independent anonymous person to set up a network and dig up HNT.
Taraxa CEO Steven: The Taraxa project was inspired by my experience as a founder of several startups and a strategic consulting partner. As I have noticed in my consulting work, the need for coordination within large organizations always undermines the ability of these companies to adapt and innovate as quickly as startups, leading to inevitable decline. And I see decentralized coordination as a solution to reduce the need for multi-layered coordination.
We came up with two solutions to realize this vision, one to help businesses collaborate more effectively, and the other to free up people and enable more autonomous devices. Both solutions enhance trust in data and protocols during business transactions by using blockchain as an audit trail that cannot be tampered with. In the case of the Internet of Things, we use it to anchor the activities of autonomous revenue-generating machines, to get key stakeholders to agree on their benefits, while ensuring that any malicious activity is avoided.
Rhythm BlockBeats: We know that Helium has two forms of token, one is Helium card HNT, there is a kind of data points Data Credits. Then could you please ask Frank to introduce the mining mechanism of HNT? About Data Credits can be understood as a stabilisation currency anchored to the dollar, similar to air miles, so why not transfer and trade?
& have spent
Helium COO FrankHelium is using its' destroy the balance 'approach to create a natural inflation and deflation ecosystem. Helium Hot has created a network and HNT mines, which is the only way to get an HNT. HNT cannot be pre-dug; every month, 5 million HNT are generated on the blockchain and Shared by all miners (coverage proof participants, challengers, witnesses and consensus groups).
To make an iot device work with Helium, the device owner must pay a data credit (Data Credits can be used. Data credit can be obtained by reducing the circulation of HNT (that is, destroying HNT). Data points are not transferable or resale, similar to Ali Cloud resource points or airline miles. A data credit card is like a stability coin. Its price is $0.00001 and it never changes.
Rhythm BlockBeats:Let's ask Steven, I've learned that Taraxa has been focusing on enterprise collaboration, providing third-party audit technology for enterprise data, could you share with us some specific examples in this regard?
Taraxa CEO Steven:Applications developed based on the Taraxa distributed ledger are building an audit trail of business operations data that cannot be tampered with. I'll cover two use cases, one involving our integrated security hardware and the other involving a software-only solution.
In terms of hardware solutions, we are primarily focused on cross-border asset leasing. Our main customers are in Japan, and they operate the mall asset leasing business on a profit-sharing model. This mode is going very well in Japan, where the social credibility is very high and the usage times of the leased equipment will be reported accurately every month. But when the company began to expand around the world, it found that the Numbers it reported each month were so bad that the operators reported very poor Numbers. Without reliable data, they were unable to execute a large number of orders. We built a security hardware module with a security element and an MCU with a security boot function to ensure that the module was tamper-proof, collecting critical machine operation data and anchoring it on the blockchain to provide audit trail.
In our software-only solution, we initially targeted the U.S. construction market. On construction sites, a large number of change orders occur on a daily basis, and they are mediated through temporary agreements with basic communication tools such as text or E-mail. These basic communication tools prevent interim agreements from being tracked and verified, leading to disputes. The construction industry alone, for example, spends more than $24 billion a year to settle disputes, not to mention the size of the market in other industries and the vast majority of disputes that are not settled through official litigation or arbitration. Our solution anchors the protocol onto an audit trail that cannot be tampered with, so that even random protocols can be trusted.
BlockBeats: In 2020, due to the epidemic, the project will be more or less affected. We have more demands for telecommuting, and there will be more online opportunities. Could you please share with us your new thoughts on the project in the epidemic?
Taraxa CEO Steven:That's a good question. After the COVID-19 outbreak, our clients in the asset leasing space were hit hard, but our use cases in audable interim agreements grew rapidly, in large part because telecommuting made human coordination more difficult. Since the new Crown is not going away anytime soon, we will redouble our efforts on software-only solutions and continue to look for viable entry points in IoT integrated solutions.
Helium COO FrankWe are deeply saddened by the outbreak and spread of the global epidemic, which has hurt so many people. We hope those who have the misfortune to be infected will recover soon. But every time there's a disaster, there's a lot of opportunities in a lot of areas. Helium has become increasingly popular around the world as reliance on the Internet has increased so dramatically that any individual can become a wireless network operator and mine HNT. Helium has completed its open-source and will soon open its mining hotspots, blockchain, Iot device logon platform and console. More mining hotspots are coming and will be available globally, including in China -- and we want everyone to have equal access.
Rhythmic BlockBeats: Now & NBSP; DeFi is hot, and this is actually the beginning of the discovery of the value of landing applications. Do you think that the implementation of blockchain has outstripped the exploration of the protocol? Is it now more efficient to capture the value of the application than to capture the value of the protocol?
Helium COO FrankI think both are equally important. Helium is a landing application into the block chain. Nevertheless, we argue that we cannot achieve our goal of creating a global network without a decentralized protocol. Helium blockchain was born to create a global network. Our protocol is key to creating an incentive model that drives the building of wireless infrastructure. The landing application is open, the hardware is open, the software is open, and now the agreement is also open. If a project wants to be successful, both the agreement and the landing are indispensable. I think there are some companies in the industry that are more focused on agreements right now, but ultimately they will also be looking to actually implement projects.
Taraxa CEO Steven: To be honest, we have little interest in DeFi mainly for the following reasons:
& have spent
First of all,The SCOPE of DeFi is too limited. It only involves users who already own encrypted assets, which is a small percentage of the world's population. As an application of blockchain technology, cryptography assets have not been widely adopted because they address a very limited range of problems, such as circumventing regulations. We believe that decentralized networks have the potential to address real-world problems and thus affect a larger proportion of the world's population, not just finance, because it is based on an abstraction layer of real-world business activities.
Second, regarding DeFi, it seems to me that it does not bring anything new to the table. In fact, everything that happens in DeFi has already happened in traditional financial markets. If no fundamentally innovative products have been created, then as the regulatory framework matures,Traditional financial players such as Nasdaq or Fidelity will enter and dominate this small market. We want to build truly innovative products and reinforce them through technology and commerce so that traditional players can't easily dominate.
In addition to what we are already doing, there is an interesting idea. All financial assets in history are abstract representations of things in the real world. What if we could break this abstraction? What if you have financial assets associated with real-world signals? For example, you can securitize the operating income of a hydroelectric power plant, and the value of the securitized stock is partially related to the signals on the sensor of the power plant, and is anchored and audited in real time through a decentralized network. It's a new kind of asset, never before in history.
We want to create a different realm that goes beyond what you might expect from existing encryption technologies and really addresses real-world problems.
BlockBeats: Next, what are your future plans for your respective projects?
Helium COO FrankHelium has landed in many parts of North America and Europe and we are committed to landing in China and other parts of the world by January 1, 2021. We hope that by then, the world will be able to enter Helium hot or compatible hot, so that everyone can carry out HNT mining. Hemium focuses on open-source everything and recruits as many companies as possible to use the technology and protocol. There are many large international companies testing our solutions in different areas, such as asset tracking, leak detection, pet tracking, and so on.
Taraxa CEO Steven:We have two immediate and one medium-term goals.
1. & have spent Launch a successful application for real-world enterprise use, which is currently our auditable temporary protocol platform.
2. & have spent Once we demonstrate that our application usage will continue to grow, we will launch the Taraxa network with the community and the foundation.
3. & have spent Abstract an API layer for our application and anchor the data to any application plug-in that anyone wants. Ultimately, decentralization is an infrastructure that serves applications.
BlockBeats: Ok, due to the time problem, that's the end of today's activity. Thank you both for your wonderful speeches and discussions. Welcome to our next event, don't forgetinActivities pageVote and continue to support the project you have in mind.
