The operator of OKEx is suing users to return "stolen" bitcoins

An overseas digital currency trading platform OKEx (" OKEx ") has appointed a team of Lawyers from Beijing Tianda Republic Law Firm Zhang Lei to file a lawsuit against A Man surnamed Deng in Sichuan province, demanding the return of some bitcoin stolen from the platform, BlockBeats reported. The case was filed at Dujiangyan People's Court in Sichuan province on July 25, 2020.

According to Zhang Lei, on November 14, 2019, Deng took advantage of the short-term technical failure of OKEx to change a certain number of low-value digital currencies into the same number of BTC (Bitcoin) through multiple accounts under his control and transferred them to the accounts under his control. Aux Cayes Fintech Co. Ltd. (" Aux Company "), the operating entity of OKEx, is an overseas company, and Deng's operation methods are very covert and sophisticated. As a result, OKEx has had a difficult and tortuous process to recover rights and interests from Deng for more than half a year. Zhang lei, a lawyer, said the lawsuit had cost OKEx millions of yuan. In order to protect its own legitimate rights and interests, OKEx entrusts the domestic lawyer team to launch a lawsuit against Deng Mou Ming, recover the relevant losses.

The case was filed at Dujiangyan People's Court in Sichuan province on July 25, 2020.

As this case involves the field of digital currency such as Bitcoin, it is a relatively novel case accepted by the court in recent years. The case is currently under trial, and it is believed that the parties will soon await the verdict of the local court.
