Rhythmic BlockBeats news, Algorand announced on July 2nd that it has joined the Blockchain Gaming Association, namely blockchain Gaming Alliance, or BGA for short. According to the BGA web site, more than 60 companies have joined the BGA, such as Talsys and MakerDAO.
In making the announcement on July 2, Algorand pledged to donate to BGA as a member and support sponsor. By joining the alliance, Algorand hopes to bring some benefits to the gaming industry. These include the creation of non-homogeneous tokens (NFT) and new monetisation models. Algorand hopes to increase the speed of the network, reduce transaction costs, expand market opportunities for players and publishers, and "community ownership of the entire game ecosystem".
Founded in 2019, BGA aims to promote the application of blockchain in gaming. They also seek to represent blockchain games and major gaming industry events under the sponsorship of leading technology companies. Not long ago, when FIDE launched its digital game in the online arena, Algorand was chosen as the official blockchain chess scoring recorder. To commemorate the launch of the algorand-based chess grading system, Algorand founder Silvio Micali played a round against chess master Sergey Karjakin on June 18 and recorded the match and results on the blockchain.
