Ethereum miners propose raising Gas cap. Why are communities divided?

Read this article in 6 Minutes
The Ethereum community is divided over whether to raise the Gas cap.

Legal BlockBeats on June 22, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin tweeted: "It's fair to say many miners are still voting to lower the Gas cap, although we can't be sure whether they are lazy or genuinely opposed to changing the setting."

However, on Twitter, Vitalik also expressed confusion. He said he had objected six weeks ago, but "now gasprice is always so high, and it's not good for users. The long-term solution is certainly to move all applications to Rollup to rollup and wait for sharding, but short-term increases in gaslimit are the only way to scale, so the benefits may outweigh the disadvantages... I don't know.

The cause, it is understood, was a tweet over the weekend from Bitfly, Ethermine's parent company, that Ethermine miners were voting to raise the Gas cap on each block from 10 million to 12.5 million.

But the Ethereum community is divided over whether to raise the Gas cap. Some miners argue that raising the Gas cap on the Ethereum block would theoretically mean increasing the overall throughput of Ethereum, while reducing costs. Ethereum's fees currently hover between $0.40 and $0.60 per transaction, higher than THOSE of BCH or NBSP; ADA and other networks charge for each transaction.

But there are drawbacks to adding Gas caps. Miners, for example, spend more time working on each block. (Since higher Gas caps mean that each block is expected to contain more deals), this can lead to "tertiary" problems. In addition, someThe commentary also points out thatWeaker nodes can also leave the network,That, in turn, would make Ethereum more centralised and more easily controlled by large miners, at least for now.

As a result, some community members oppose the proposal, including Core Ethereum developer Peter Szilagyi. Peter retweet Bitfly and commented: "Taifang miners don't care about long-term network security or DoS attacks."

For a long time, the solution to this kind of problem has been more recognized by Layer2.
