According to beat BlockBeats, the actual number of Solana tokens in circulation today was questioned by users who found that the foundation had provided 11.36 million tokens to market makers in addition to the 8.26 million SOL tokens in circulation. In response to the above, Solana's team COO Raj Gokal wrote in a cable group that the foundation had indeed lent 11.36 million SOL tokens to market makers to provide liquidity, and that the team and investors' tokens were 100% locked up and did not profit from the lent tokens.
The following is Raj Gokal's response in the Telegram community:
There has been a question of how many tokens are in circulation since the SOL token came on the market. Here are the facts:
The 8,258,353.64 SOL tokens were allocated through CoinList auction and coin and security airdrops
11.36 million SOL tokens were lent (from the foundation) to market makers to provide liquidity
- a market maker is a standard allocation for any listing that meets liquidity requirements
- the amount of tokens has not changed since the CoinList auction and the launch of Binance. The foundation has not issued or sold any other tokens to the market.
- the team and the investor's tokens are 100% locked.
- neither the Solana team nor the Solana foundation profited from the sale of these loaned tokens.
- as of April 27, the foundation had no plans to bring more tokens to the market. Any plans to do so will be publicly disclosed in advance.
- without public disclosure, no other tokens will be allocated to market making.
Previously recommended by exchanges and research analysts, Solana's team's understanding of liquid supply was that the "liquid supply" was usually calculated without tokens for the market-making part. With this in mind, we did not refer to the 11.36 million tokens allocated to market makers in answering questions about the supply of liquidity. However, given the recent feedback, we will always include the fact that there are 11.36 million tokens lent to make the market when discussing circulating supply. These tokens are unlocked when lent to market makers and are not controlled by the foundation, but it is important to note that neither Solana Labs nor Solana foundation employees or managers profit from the sale of these tokens.
