This week, Spacemesh updated Spacemesh's software for mining for home PCS and added full mining capabilities.
Spacemesh is open-source software that allows users to dig mines without having to do so on a mining machine. The algorithm is optimized for home computers. Different from the POW and POS consensus, Spacemesh proposed a new consensus called "spatiotemporal proof protocol (PoST)", which runs Spacemesh on PCS from all over the world to create a highly decentralized p2p blockchain network and run the operating system blockmesh, and support network-scale common smart contracts.
In September 2018, Spacemesh received a $15 million investment led by Polychain. Other investors include MetaStable, Paradigm (Matt Huang and Fred Ehrsam's new Fund), Coinbase Ventures, Bain Capital, 1kx, Arrington XRP Capital, Dan Capital, Gumi Crypto, Electric Capital, Collaborative Fund, Jack Herrick and others.
Spacemesh also updates its progress in community, technology, and academia. Including the paper "simple proof of space-time" and "rational proof of storage" written by lead scientist Tal Moran, which was accepted by Crypto 2019, Spacemesh added a complete mining function and a complete construction and test cycle.
