According to CointelegraphreportsBTC developer Luke Dashjr's Bitcoin node statistics on his website show that there are approximately 100,000 full Bitcoin nodes verifying the blockchain, which he says is because other node monitoring services typically contain only one type of node (" listening node ").
According to the Dashjr node website, 58.36% of all BTC nodes were still vulnerable to software vulnerabilities as of press time, up from more than 60% previously, as most were still running outdated versions of the software.

It is reported that the running software runs on 55,056 BTC full nodes, which are prone to cve-2018-17144 vulnerabilities. This loophole allows malicious miners to artificially inflate the supply of BTC through a simple double entry.
In September 2018, the bug was discovered and quickly fixed. Blockbeats knew that the vulnerability could have had disastrous consequences -- the developers decided to keep it secret, revealing only that it made the network vulnerable to distributed denial of service attacks. Only after the bug had been fixed did the developers reveal the full extent of the vulnerability's dangers.
The security of the bitcoin network can be measured by the number of nodes that keep a complete copy of the blockchain. However, according to statistics on Dashjr's website, BTC has 99,638 full nodes in operation, which is about 10 times higher than most BTC analysis platforms report. For example, BitNodes claims to now have 9,515 full BTC nodes, while CoinDance reports that only 9,391 nodes were running as of press time.
The Next Web explains that this difference is actually due to The fact that most of these platforms only involve listening to full nodes. But according to the report, whether the node is "listening" is an almost irrelevant technical detail. "Economic nodes -- nodes that process transactions -- can either listen or not," Dashjr explains. "Frankly, just focusing on listening nodes is not a very useful metric -- non-listening nodes are just as important." Dashjr's chart of bitcoin nodes is updated hourly, based on four weeks of data. Behind this worrying figure is the fact that more than half of the bitcoin networks are running outdated versions of BTC software.
