According to BlockBeats, on July 22, the US cancelled its request to extradite BTC-E operator Alexander Vinnik from France to the US, a move that would allow US officials to hold him longer before extraditing him to Greece. Vinnik is known as the operator of BTC-E, which has been linked to the hack of bitcoin exchange Mt.Gox, which was never restored to service and shut down in 2014 after 744,408 BTCS were stolen. Vinnik has always denied that he runs BTC-E, claiming that he only works at the exchange.
