Reuters: European regulators are opening bids to crypto data providers as they move to step up scrutiny of crypto trading
The European Union's securities regulator, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), has begun preparing to step up its scrutiny of crypto trading, Reuters reported on Aug 3. ESMA is soliciting bids from data providers for crypto trading, including spot trading and derivatives, according to a public tender document.
"The coverage includes all major trading platforms and crypto assets to provide fair data on the crypto market," ESMA said in the notice. "Data needs to be available on a daily basis, including order books that look at the spread and liquidity of individual trading platforms and trading pairs (currencies and cryptocurrencies)." In addition, the maximum value of the tender contract is €100,000.
