Forbes: Gemini, BlackRock and Citadel have all denied rumors that they had anything to do with Terra's plunge
On May 12, asset manager BlackRock (BLK) and hedge fund giant Citadel Securities (Citadel) sent emails to Forbes to deny trading in TerraUSD. In response to recent rumors that the financial giants collectively borrowed 100,000 bitcoins (about $3 billion) from cryptocurrency exchange Gemini to buy UST, the sale caused the market to crash and destroyed LUNA's market cap base of more than $25 billion.
After Gemini denied on social media that it had lent 100,000 bitcoin to any large institutional counterparties, Citadel sources confirmed that the company does not trade Stablecoin, including UST. Blackrock spokesman Logan Koffler said rumors of BlackRock's role in the UST collapse are "absolutely false" and that blackRock does not, in fact, trade UST.
