BlockBeats news, November 6 — U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley of the Northern District of California on November 4 formally approved a preliminary injunction barring prediction market platform Kalshi from offering sports event-related contracts on the lands of two California Indian tribes. This is the first U.S. injunction targeting Kalshi's tribal-land sports contracts.
Under the court order, Kalshi Inc. and its affiliated entity KalshiEX are prohibited from offering any sports contracts on the "Indian lands" of the Blue Lake Rancheria and the Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians. The injunction explicitly covers (but is not limited to) contracts related to baseball, tennis, pickleball, soccer, basketball, football, golf, chess, esports, hockey, auto racing, boxing, wrestling, and UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) events.
The court also ordered that the two tribes must provide Kalshi with maps of their land boundaries by November 13, 2026, in order to implement geofencing. Kalshi must submit a compliance progress report to the court within 21 days after the injunction is issued.
