US Democrats plan to expand crypto consumer protection bill, pushing for greater regulatory authority for the SEC.

BlockBeats news, November 5th, according to market sources, U.S. House Democrats plan to expand the "Crypto Investor and Consumer Protection Act" proposed by Congresswoman Maxine Waters into a more comprehensive 2025 market structure bill.

The related proposal intends to grant the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) greater regulatory authority, expand its oversight role over the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and introduce federal-level ethics restrictions.

If the plan advances, it could impact the U.S. crypto market regulatory framework and the regulatory division of labor between the SEC and CFTC.
