BlockBeats news, November 3 - CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost stated in a post that the total market capitalization of stablecoins has dropped to its lowest level in over a year. Since April this year, the total market cap of stablecoins has fallen from approximately $280 billion to $263 billion, a decrease of about $17 billion, with a cumulative decline of about 6% over six months, reflecting a continued contraction in overall liquidity in the crypto market.
Looking at the distribution of stablecoins on centralized trading platforms, Binance still accounts for about 70% of the stablecoin supply on trading platforms, so changes in its platform's stablecoin market cap are somewhat representative. The 90-day moving average of Binance's stablecoin market cap has fallen by about 20%, from $51 billion to $34 billion. This trend was further exacerbated especially after the platform suffered a previous hacker attack, with about $3 billion in stablecoins flowing out of the platform.
Darkfost pointed out that the decline in Binance's platform stablecoin market cap did not emerge recently but has persisted for over a year, broadly consistent with the downward trend in the overall stablecoin market cap. This synchronized decline mainly reflects insufficient market demand and a lack of new capital and liquidity inflows. Recent changes in the geopolitical and economic environment, especially the frequent security vulnerabilities and attack incidents in the crypto ecosystem, may be affecting investors' risk assessments.
Faced with ongoing security risks, investors may believe that putting funds into the crypto market entails excessive risk, thereby reducing their willingness to participate. The current market urgently needs new liquidity to return. If capital remains scarce, the positive market trends that have gradually formed in recent months may reverse, plunging the entire crypto market back into downturn and pessimism.
