BlockBeats news, November 2 - According to Reuters, an official familiar with the talks said that Iranian negotiators left talks with Qatari mediators on Sunday, a draft agreement aimed at ending the US-Iran war is being circulated, and further meetings may still take place. The official said the walkout was not because the negotiations had run into difficulty.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei confirmed that Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi had previously exchanged information with Washington in Doha through Qatari mediation, and that the current consultations are still based on the "seven-step plan" proposed by Iran in September. The core of the plan includes the United States ending its blockade of Iranian ports, Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz, the US granting exemptions for Iran's crude oil exports and canceling recent new sanctions, among other measures. Baghaei said the plan could now be compressed to about two days for implementation, but the precondition remains that the US meets Iran's conditions; asked whether the transfer of highly enriched uranium stockpiles was discussed, he explicitly denied it.
The report said oil prices fell nearly 4% on Monday as the outside world pinned hopes on this round of mediation, but Iranian sources believe the possibility of a new round of US military strikes is still higher than that of reaching an agreement. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the Russian Foreign Ministry separately called on the same day for a political settlement and opposed renewed military action. US President Trump had previously rejected Iran's original seven-step plan and said he would not launch new attacks on Iran before the midterm elections.
