OpenAI announces merger of ChatGPT and Codex quotas in December: regular chats will also compete for coding quotas, except for Instant.

Beating AI News Flash: The shared quota rules previously uncovered by "Baldy" Tibor Blaho from the ChatGPT subscription page have now been officially confirmed.

OpenAI's latest help documentation specifies that starting in December, Plus, Pro, and Business users will share a single quota across ChatGPT and Codex, while also integrating ChatGPT Work's Agent capabilities into the regular chat interface.

At that time, usage will be calculated uniformly by Tokens—the stronger the model and the more complex the task, the more quota is typically consumed. However, chats in Instant mode will not deduct from the shared quota. Users can check their remaining quota and reset time in settings.

Ironically, just after OpenAI announced that quotas for Pro and other plans would be doubled, it confirmed that chat and coding would be placed into the same quota pool.

Officials also reassured users, expecting that most users will not exhaust their quota more frequently than they do now.
