BlockBeats news, October 31: In response to discussions regarding the scale of the Binance theft and BTC price reactions, CZ stated that the $6.3 billion theft incident is the largest by USD value, but not by BTC quantity. He cited the Mt. Gox incident, which involved 650,000 BTC, accounting for over 5% of the BTC supply at the time, and therefore assessing market impact cannot rely solely on USD amounts.
He believes that attention should also be paid to the number of affected users and the proportion of affected assets relative to user assets. According to him, in the Mt. Gox and FTX incidents, nearly all users and their assets were affected. The more critical question is who ultimately bears the losses, and whether the platform can fully cover them rather than letting users suffer losses.
CZ stated that this incident remains a major disaster for the industry, Binance, and himself, but they were able to withstand the impact. He emphasized: "The most important thing is that we protect users."
