Beating AI News Flash: Doubao Work has announced that it is opening third-party large model services to enterprise clients, with the first batch including Moonshot AI's Kimi K3.1 Pro, Zhipu's GLM-5.3, and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash. Enterprise users can directly switch models within Doubao Work's chat interface, no longer limited to ByteDance's own Doubao models.
However, Doubao Work previously already supported users connecting third-party models on their own. The difference is that custom integration required users to settle fees separately with the model vendors, while Doubao Work's tool invocation and output fees still consumed quota separately. This time, third-party models are being placed directly into the in-product model selection menu, lowering the barrier to switching and use.
ByteDance is pushing Doubao Work from an application of its own models toward an enterprise AI work entry point capable of hosting multiple vendors' models. Which model an enterprise chooses is one matter; where daily tasks are ultimately executed and how permissions and costs are managed is another layer of competition.
