BlockBeats news, October 29 - According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean virtual asset trading platform Coin Market Prabang (프라뱅) suffered a loss of approximately 100 million Korean won due to a hacking attack, and has announced a temporary suspension of services, stating it will fully compensate the lost funds with the company's own assets.
Industry sources indicate that Prabang detected abnormal outflows from its hot wallet on the 24th of this month, immediately activated emergency response procedures and launched a comprehensive investigation, during which security vulnerabilities were discovered; on the 26th, unauthorized external access was confirmed, and a report was filed with relevant authorities, with investigations into the cause and scale of losses continuing. Yonhap News reported that while hacking-related incidents have occurred successively in the financial and virtual asset industries recently, this is the first confirmed case involving asset losses. The report also noted that this incident appears to be different from the Prabang-related accident mentioned in the financial authorities' AI hacking inspection results on the 14th of this month; additionally, on the 27th, Bithumb also experienced a hacking attack targeting its internal systems that resulted in the leakage of employee personal information, and on the same day, some Korean won trading platforms also encountered intrusion attempts targeting personal information and assets.
