BlockBeats news, October 26: Musk responded on social media to investor Chamath Palihapitiya, stating that SpaceX has completed approximately $40 billion in debt financing to purchase graphics processing units (GPUs), while predicting that more than 200 new AI cloud service providers known as "neoclouds" will face massive failures and consolidation due to tightening credit markets.
It is reported that Palihapitiya stated that neoclouds are disorganized and undercapitalized, while hyperscale cloud providers suffer from severe bureaucratic decision-making, and warned that construction delays could lead to a large amount of "stranded compute" in 2027, with hardware already purchased but yielding returns below the cost of capital stranded in unfinished data centers.
Musk agreed with these remarks and added that the debt market has "almost completely cut off financing channels for companies lacking substantial revenue independent of AI data centers." This means more than 200 neoclouds will face mass death and consolidation; some will survive, but not many.
Additionally, Musk explicitly stated that SpaceX will not acquire any neoclouds, calling such a move "meaningless."
