BlockBeats news, October 24 - According to BBC, Argentine federal judge Marcelo Martinez de Giorgi, at the request of prosecutors, has decided to dismiss the criminal case against Argentine President Javier Milei and his sister Karina Milei over their alleged involvement in the LIBRA cryptocurrency controversy. The judge determined that the available materials cannot prove the existence of deception with criminal significance, and the relevant events do not constitute a crime as defined by law.
In February 2025, Milei posted a link to purchase LIBRA tokens on social media X, stating that the project would help small businesses and startups raise funds. After the post, the token price rose rapidly, but hours later Milei deleted the post, and LIBRA immediately plummeted, causing most investors to suffer significant losses and triggering fraud allegations.
Milei denied having endorsed the token, saying he was merely sharing information and decided to stop promoting it after learning the project details. He also said that investors participated voluntarily and understood the relevant risks. As of the publication of the BBC report, Milei had not responded to the news of the case dismissal.
